So I have wanted a vacuum filler for quite some time. I bought some Chinese one from AliExpress last year to try them out- the filling mechanism is fabulous but they don't post, which is a deal-breaker for me in any pen that isn't retractable. PenBBS says their Vac fillers don't post. The TWSBI pens have pretty large step-downs, which is something I avoid. I'm trying to find a vac that sits well in hand, posts, doesn't suffer from the step-down issue and is not multiple hundreds of dollars. Vintage or new is fine- these days vintage pens often seem to be better values. The Pilot Custom seems to fit the bill, but I was hoping to pay less. Plus, a family member is going to Japan in October, so any Japanese pens of significant price should wait 'til then...

Dear Members, I recently purchased a bunch of Pilot Custom pens from a Japanese seller on ebay. A few of them were Custom 74s and others were Custom 67s, models that I am very familiar with. Along with these, I bought what I thought was a burgundy Pilot Custom 67, but which turned out to be a mystery pen. It looks like a Custom 67, but it is a few millimeters shorter and thinner and has a Size 3 nib whereas the 67s have Size 5. Even more interestingly, the nib has a date code of H108, which puts the manufacturing date somewhere in Jan 2008. I am not sure if the whole pen was manufactured in 2008 or just the nib was swapped. Right after I posted this, I was able to pull the nib and feed. Looks like I got the wrong date code; it is H1087, so October 1987. Does anyone know of such a pen? The seller was equally clueless and said that he just thought it was a Custom 67 pen and wondered if I wanted a refund (lol, hell no, I love it). It writes like a Custom 98, which isn't surprising because it has the same nib. I have attached some images, but let me know if you need more. Thanks in advance 🙂

From the album: Japanese pens
Another pen I ordered, with free custom engraving, from a (different) seller on Rakuten Global Market back in the day. The inscription on the cap is the second half of a Chinese idiom that means, “it takes ten years for a tree to be fully grown, but a hundred years for a person to develop into his fullness.” This is one of my favourite pens, and the only pen in my pen with a wooden cap and barrel that seals effectively against ink evaporation when capped and unused for several months. The Pilot #10 14K gold F nib on it is excellent.© A Smug Dill

Does Anyone Know More About This Pilot Custom With Mottled Colors And A Pump Filler?
hu-327 posted a topic in Japan - Asia
https://www.ebay.com/itm/PILOT-CUSTOM-14k-Med-Pump-fill-w-Ink-Window-Unusual-Pen-ca-1984-READ-/173901045089?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true Was following this eBay listing but the price went out of my range since I've been getting into Vacs and vintage flex lately Seems like an interesting pen though, and I'd love to know more about it if anyone has more details. I own several pens in the Pilot Custom lines, but I've never seen anything like that before.- 3 replies

My friend John is a photographer and asked me if he could borrow a few fountain pens to shoot for his portfolio. I think he did a great job. http://static.squarespace.com/static/51c300c1e4b034c963afc8b8/t/51c48c43e4b0c5a944a39daa/1371835461423/20%20-%20Pennor0564.jpg Pilot Capless, TWSBI Diamond 540, Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo ink, Pilot Custom, Pilot MYU BS-500. http://static.squarespace.com/static/51c300c1e4b034c963afc8b8/t/51c48c2ce4b09ee48eb671cd/1371835437733/20%20-%20Pennor0531.jpg Montblanc Meisterstück 149, Waterman Carène, custom Nakaya, Iroshizuku Chiku-rin and Tsutsuji ink.
