  1. Hello everyone! I am looking at buying a pen case for at least 20 pens. Right now I am looking at either Girologio 24 pen case or Galen Leather 20 pen case. I would like to here you preference between these two brands or any other brands and why you would choose one over the other. Thank you for your help!
  2. This is an initial review of a 60-pen storage case, named "3 in 1 Pen Display, Carry and Storage Case" (the "Case"), manufactured (I think) and sold by Penn State Industries ("PSI"). I have no affiliation with PSI or its owners or employees and have only purchased this and some other pen storage boxes in the past. This one I received last week, so this is an early review. I thought this Case would be worth a review, as, if it works as designed, it may provide a convenient way to display pens at pen shows; it displays pens at an angle, rather than flat, and "protects" the pens (from, e.g., quick theft) with an see-through acrylic cover that must be lifted to get access to the pens. The exterior dimensions of the Case are 17" x 15.5" x 4.25" -- in metric, approximately 43.19 x 39.37 x 10.80 cm. Here are photos I took of the case standing and laying flat. In the website's description of the Case, PSI incorrectly describes it as holding 64 pens -- 32 pens in each of two sections. In fact, when one counts the foam inserts' pen spaces, there are two sections that have space for 30 pens each, for a total of 60. Here is a photo of one of the two identical foam inserts. See my next post for more.
  3. Just bought another one of these awesome pen wraps: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Pentaloons?ref=yr_purchases This one is my 4th (one I bought as a present for friend). They hold 4-5 pens each, wrap nicely and are just all around functional and beautiful. I've no association with the maker - just stumbled upon them on Etsy. Here's a pic of one have:
  4. Here is a cabinet that I just finished building. It is specifically designed to hold all of my fountain pens and ink and give me room to grow. The cabinet is made from solid walnut and the doors have a bookmatched walnut burl veneer pattern on them. I designed and built this cabinet from scratch. The doors have pen racks on them that will hold up to 27 pens (if I put only the pens I really like in my collection in there I have room for about 18 more ). They racks are also walnut and have goat suede on the bottom of them so my pens have a comfy resting place. I contemplated building risers for the middle 2 shelves so I could stack my ink 2 high, but it looks like I will need more ink before that becomes a need. The cabinet itself is not really that large. It is 11 inches deep, about 21 inches wide, and about 32 inches tall. You may also notice that the last picture shows where it hangs in my house... the deepest darkest corner of my basement. So why am I posting it here? Truth is, I would like to build a couple more (it was pretty fun and I have ideas on things I would do different next time) so if anyone is interested I would be up for a commission or 2. Pricing will be 100% based on the specifics of what you want. If anyone is interested please send me a PM and we can talk more. I would love to hear what everyone thinks both good and bad.
  5. My collection of pens has out grown the current storage box, I converted an old W&N paint box by lining with felt and using upholsterers foam to create individual spaces for each pen, the box holds 12 but as my collection is now nearer 30 overcrowding is a major issue. Last night I found a storage solution on an auction site, after a few emails with the company owner Rod I'm getting a 'craft chest' custom made (http://www.creations-by-rod.co.uk/smallcraftchest.html) my chest will have 4 single drawers and a 5th double drawer. Rod makes a pen chest that has grooves in the drawer base to hold pens but I wanted the option to put pens in front to back and side to side(for larger pens) and to create a softer surface for the pens to rest on so thought I'd make my own inserts for the drawers, the question I have is does anyone know of a good way to create a pen tray? The way I made one for my current box works but takes ages to put together, the felt is easy to glue down but the foam is a little fiddly. I'm wondering is maybe I could glue dowels under the felt to create something? Any advice or methods anyone has used would be great, I have a week or so until my new pen home arrives so I can pick up any bits I may need
  6. I just recently reorganized my desk setup and now have a ton of space for pen organization and storage. I have two pen cases that I like quite a bit, but also would like to a little desk cabinet that has like two drawers for pens and one or two drawers for ink. It only needs to be 12inches wide. I did some google searching and haven't found much. Anyone have pointers on where to look?
  7. Just wanted to let the Waterman fans that I just found an antique waterman display case on liveauctioneers. It is a beautiful case, and I'm sure it will go for far more than I can afford with kids in college....but someone who loves the pens should get it. Auction is middle of Nov., lots of time to drool and dream! Attaching a pic for those that just wanna dream.
  8. Hey does anyone know of a pen case that will hold both a Pelikan M1000 and a MB 149? Ideally it would be a leather case and not a pen roll or kimono. I have a few cases (Pelikan, Pilot X SOMES, and a couple generic) and none of them will even come close to fitting these two oversize pens. Thanks for your help.

    Pen Trays

Hello, I know I haven't spoken out recently but quite honestly, I teach 2nd grade all day so Im just too exhausted to think past 6pm. However, I'm still running Pendora and shipping my pen trays daily. I wanted to let you know I have added LIGHT GRAY to the color selection which means I now have 8 colors to choose from. My trays are designed by me personally specifically for larger pens and are made from a soft velour flocked polystyrene plastic. These pen trays are perfect for any custom application, for pen turners, trade table or retail display. Available in 2 sizes to hold your choice of 10 or 22 pens. Currently offered in your choice of Black, Forest Green, Bright Blue, Brilliant Red, Rich Burgundy/Wine, Gray, Tan and White. Please see me at www.pendorapens.com if you are interested in supplementing this 2nd grade teachers pathetic income.
  10. My mom had one of these and when I was thinking about better ways to store my pens, it suddenly hit me, "So what if it's meant for sewing?" I like this idea for a few reasons, it closes to a fairly compact size, the bottom compartment is deep enough for ink bottles or pen boxes, the top tray(s) would be great for wax & seals, etc., and I'm attracted to the ability to see everything in the wide open position. My idea is to line it with green felt and make felted slots in the trays to separate the pens. The drawbacks that stand out to me are that it has an almost 4-ft. wingspan so it needs its own space, and it might be too clumsy to deal with if I just want to get a certain pen or whatnot. So, any opinions or items for consideration would be appreciated.
  11. Hi All I have been adding pens to my collection and soon i shall be having 20 Fountain pens and storing them, arranging them becomes a hassle Please let me know where can i buy storage/display boxes for pen storage in Delhi-NCR
  12. After extensive searching for pen storage, I feel like I've come to the end of my internet sleuthing skills and looked at more etsy boxes than I care to count. Does anyone have suggestions for a contemporary, Scandinavian-style wood box with a pull-out drawer that looks like this one from atelier de la foret, but doesn't cost 300 euros: The closest I could find is a box on etsy, but it is just as expensive: I like the one from pennstateid. but am looking for one that doesn't have foam inserts and is protected from light.

  14. Greetings all, Glad to join the pen community online. I'm relatively new to the hobby and have an 823 newbie question. I'm going to be away from my new Custom 823 for about three weeks and it's inked up with take-sumi Iroshizuku (so far my favorite combination ever.) Given the nature of the ink, the pen, and its valve-close system, should I still empty the pen before I leave it to sit? If I should flush the pen, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the last few drops of water out of the 823? Thanks!
