I was in Karachi on June 1 to attend an official meeting and it so happened that I couldn't find a seat for my journy back to Islamabd on any flight in the evening. So I said to myself why not visit some antique stores for finding some good old pens. When I reached the antique market I asked for the one shop owner that has been supplying me with some good pens in the past. I didnt expect to find any pens with him since he had already sent me some pens in the last week of May. Well , I found his shop and after letting me have a cup of tea we came to the subject of pens. He said he has two boxes of some very old pens that were collected by his dad but since these were in very bad shape he didnt think these would be of any interest to me. I said let me see. And , lo and behold. A treasure of pens but extremely dirty as if left to themselves for ages. To cut the story short I selected these pens and asked him how much he would charge for these? He said would Rs.40,000 (approximately $400) be appropiate? Well , I paid him the money and wanted to take the pens and leave. But he insisted I have dinner with him and I agreed. We had a nice meal and then he accompanied me to my hotel room and before leaving he also gifted me a Silver Lustre Sonnet ballpoint. Here are the pens after initial cleaning. And here: And here : And here : And finaly these parts that can also complete another pen or two :
