  1. Hello -- new member here! Are there any family members here from the Morrison family that owned the famous pen company? I just learned that Louis Morrison, who started the company in 1910 and invented some of the pen types, was related to my family. There aren't many people from our family still around (never have been in the last 70-75 years!), and I'd love to make contact with any people from that Morrison family. I figure it's a long shot that any members of that family are on here, but heck, this seems like the best place to try!! And, maybe some of you might have hints about how else I might look for them. Thank you in advance! I've enjoyed looking around on your site.
  2. i've been building up a small stash of ebay finds in my daughter's place in san diego these past few months (i live and work in the philippines, and so i tend to collect my ebay stuff in the US when i visit once or twice a year). among my most recent pickups was this burgundy vac which, at the time i bought it, seemed to me to be either a senior or slender maxima. it's still hard for me to tell one from the other just from a picture, but i was hoping for a senior max, because i already have the slender in burgundy, among other colors except blue). thankfully, it did turn out to be a senior maxima in very fine condition, from 1939, with striped jewels and section, needing just a new diaphragm, which i'll install as soon as i fly back to manila. the price wasn't too bad, either: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191712327935?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and the others? the best ones include a huge, near-mint morrison's overlay which i picked up for $80, a moore L-94 in RHR, a sweet, very clean GF wahl, and a plain but also very clean BHR waterman 54. many have super-flex nibs now i can't wait to get home so i can resac and refurbish these babies.
  3. Hello there, I just started writing with fountain pens and bought a Namiki Falcon with a fine point and some flexibility. The other day I rediscovered this little Morrison ring top pen that I acquired at a sidewalk sale in Berlin, Germany a couple of years ago. I tested the pen and it seems to write just fine but I have a few questions about restoration that can hopefully be answered here. There is information about this pen company on the internet but I did not find any technical data. 1. I need to install a sac but I also don't want to buy an entire collection of them to find what size fits. Can someone tell me approximately what size sac this pen would need (I'm just looking for a ballpark size) and wether or not the sack should have a neck? 2. Am I right in assuming that because the pen writes fine that I don't have to do anything to the nib/feed/section assembly? I feel confident I can replace the sac but I really don't have the skills yet to extract the nib/feed. 3. Is there anything else that I should do to this pen to bring it up to snuff? the inside of the barrel is clear of old rubber but it has some residue on it and the inside of the cap has some old ink but nothing badly crusted. Thanks, Scribe16 On the back of a standard business card: the Morrison on the left and the Falcon on the right (note my unrelaxed, shaky hand ).
