mywatchgr posted a topic in Other Brands - Europe
My favorite modern flex nib, on my favorite pen...my grail combo, after 3 years of waiting, I was able to finally put everything together... and today they got married 🥰 What do you think? Pardon my calligraphy I am at an infant stage, but I am working on it...! Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku ASA-GAO Paper: Maruman A5 Spiral Notebook (Made in Japan) Not the ideal paper for the combo but it's inexpensive for everyday workout ☺️ @fpupulin@como- 21 replies

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying this pen, but the seller doesn't know what nib he has. It looks like an older 14c MB149 nib, but its a bit slanted it seems. Is this an oblique nib? If so, can you speculate which size it could be? Thanks!

Hello all from a new member. Just getting back into pens. In grad school I saved my pennies until I could buy a Pelikan 120??? from the University of Iowa bookstore. Then in the early 1980’s a friend knew of a small town in Illinois that had a drugstore with NOS stock from the 50’s. We drove down and I got a nice Parker Vacumatic that I used for many years. Unfortunately those pens have been lost to the winds of time and former girlfriends! Later in the early 80’s my boss went to Germany and bought me a beautiful MB149 with a bold nib. Again, I used that for many years then put it away as divorce and moves happened. A few months ago I heard the call of fountain pens again and dusted off the MB149. I was feeding it MB green ink but I just wasn’t feeling it. (I’d appreciate some ink suggestions for that pen) I found out about Chinese fountain pens and bought too many bad ones but did find the Jinhao 159 that I really like. Thanks to FPN I learned that I could change the nib and I put a Jowo 1.1 stub on it which made it a great pen. I’m in San Diego, so if anyone else lives in “America’s Finest City” please p.m. me. At last I found some time to start a new topic on FPN, that's the problem with a time consuming job. Just a couple of days ago, our member James ( thank you for the excellent idea of the Review Index ) made a suggestion to use the Iphone. Well, a bit less quality but much quicker to have the job done than a Nikon. Since I am obsessed by the number 9 nib and Montblanc seems to keep this one reserved for the 149 ( yes there are the Hemingway and the Dumas, but that's all folks ) one has to go vintage to find some other 9ers. The only 2 other models with this nib are the 139 and the 129. In the beginning I didn't even know there was a 129. During the search of a decent 139, one of the welknown restorers said he had a 129 for sale. That decision was quickly made. So here the 3 are together Montblancs trinity: 129-139-149. All have the 9 nib and silver rings. The 129 is a pushknobfiller, both the two others have the telescopic pistonfiller. The inkfeed is the skislope one on all 3. All are in regular use, as you can see on the 139 inkwindow. Here's some pictures. There is also a writing example of all 3, sorry but my handwriting isn't as good as the pens are, professional deformity.

While searching a local (NZ) website like ebay I guess, I came across this little number, 14C on the nib, ebonite feed, never been inked and a crystal clear ink window, I'm thinking early 80's from reading previous threads but happy to be corrected?

Hi, I am heading to Japan via a 4 hour stop over in Hong Kong in early September, I'm thinking of getting a new 149, I live in New Zealand and the prices in our one MB store are VERY high, so I always try and pick up a MB on my travels ( 4 x 146's - Roller Ball, Ball Point, 2 x FP). My question is this...does any know what I would expect to pay for a 149 in Hong Kong airport or in Japan (whether that be a MB store or duty free at the airport?). I know that they can be purchased cheaper else where, but I like buying new and with customs and duties in NZ, not worth buying online as they end up being as expense as buying new here. Thanks for your help Craig
