Long time observer first time poster. After getting inspired reading about deccan advocate and woodex #4, finally ordered one. Really nice wirter with ebonite feed and #6 Kanwrite fine nib. Was planning to switch with a fine flex nib but seems difficult to remove. Wirtes wet with a pencil lime feedback. This is kind of an oversized pen and having big hands felt perfect for me. Also i own other fountain pens such as jinhao, click, guider etc. This felt like one of the better built pens. Other users of this pen kindly give in your thoughts. Overall good first impressions for me will update over long term. Thanks for reading.

Ebonite Pen grip section absorbing ink (Ranga 9B Matte Finish)
Brinkmann posted a topic in Repair Q&A
Hey guys, I have recently purchased a Ranga model 9B eyedropper ebonite pen in matte finish. However, there is a problem with it that I noticed as soon as I inked it up. The ink starts to climb from the feed into the step down where the the grip section ends and the feed starts. Then it climbs the grip section and, as time goes by, climbs higher and higher. As you can see from the photos (which are 3/4 days after inking the pen), the ink has been absorbed by most of the grip section and has created mold... How can I stop the ink from climbing the grip section? I imagine polished ebonite eydroppers don't have this problem as I am unable to find this issue anywhere. Any and all tips are appreciated! Thank you! P.S. I also wanted to share this experience for all who might be wondering about purchasing an ebonite eyedropper in matte finish to know about this problem and choose carefully. -
Hi everyone, This is the first midle priced pen I 've bought when I was stil at school (6-7 years ago) to replace my Parker Jotter Steel. I wanted a pen that whould be a good everyday writer and when I saw this slim matte black pen with modern look I had to get it. After 3-4 months of continuous use, the matte finish has disappeared, giving it's place to a shiny finish which started picking up some scratches. I didn't really minded back then, but as the years have pasted, and I watched some reviews on youtube, I haven't see anyone that had the same problem with me. So I wonder, - have I got a pen with defective finish? - or is it just the daily use that it has seen back in the day? I expect that from the daily use it would acquire some scratches, but I find it dificult to believe that the matte finish would go away so easily.

From the album: European pens
This is one of my two favourite Lamy pen models (hint: the other one is not a Lamy 2000), and the one that made me a fan of the brand, even though I had a few Safari and Logo pens before this and wasn't impressed by them. My ‘super pencil’ that writes in fountain pen ink. It's one of only a few pens that I wouldn't think twice writing with the cap posted; the cap clicks onto the end finial securely, and fit flush so that there is no edge to rest or rub against the skin between thumb and index finger uncomfortably. The pen is also perfectly usable for me without posting the cap. I bought this originally to fit the ‘50 years of Lamy design’ commemorative notebook, of which I picked up a few heavily discounted. They each came with a Logo M+ ballpoint pen with a rubberised finish that is comfortable to hold and offers superb grip, but I would rather write in the notebook with a fountain pen; yet there are so few that would fit the tight pen loop. After buying the cp1 in matte black finish, which also offers excellent grip, I was so impressed that I've since bought two more, as well as one with platinum finish and a 14K gold nib; but I just don't love the more ‘premium’ version the way I do this pen. I usually use a black Z52 steel EF nib on this pen these days, but I also have a black Z57 gold EF nib on standby, to fit either this or my Studio Lx All Black (SLAB!).© A Smug Dill

I have seen a couple of posts comparing materials but color is usually a big factor in choice in those discussions. I am interested in getting a solid black pen made with a satin - matte finish (Edison Morgan). A deep inky black color with the matte finish is important. But handle or feel is for me even more important. A velvety, silky feel that provides a secure purchase when held. Is there a big difference in feel and color between matte black ebonite and acrylic? I have also seen Torlon on the Edison site but I'm not sure it's still available. Anyone have experience with different satin / matte finish materials?
