So I was given a Sheaffer small slender Balance 857 in Golden Brown, white dot with a lifetime nib, lever filler, that had been found in an antique shop. The pen was given to me with the section slightly pulled out of the barrel and the cap was sitting loose over nib. It is a very good l...

Experiences with Conway Stewart (Bespoke British Pens) lever fill pens?
velox brunneis vulpes posted a topic in Great Britain & Ireland - Europe
Hi fellow FPNers I'm considering ordering a custom-made Conway Stewart Marlborough lever fill pen from Bespoke British Pens (BBP). I've read horror stories of terrible customer service, leaking sacs and snapping/faulty levers in Conway Stewarts from before BBP took over....- 9 replies

I have a cute, tiny, vintage Eagle Pencil Co. ringtop with a cute, tiny, flexible nib. I have no idea the age/model name of the pen; however, based on the flat-top shape, I’m assuming it’s from the 20’s/30’s. I’ve cleaned it out and would like to put a sac in it; however, the section see...

So.. I finally got my shipment from Anderson Pens for restoring my little Wearever and everything went great! I put a new sac on (which is watertight) and put a new j-bar in (40mm) but since they didn’t have talc in stock I ordered it from a separate place, and it is due to arrive soon. Anyway, so a... -
I stopped by a local antique store to see if they had any fountain pens, and I saw a 1930s sheaffer lever fill ( and a marble desk blotter) and was wondering 1. How likely is it that I will need to replace the ink sac (shopkeeper could not vouch for it), 2 how difficult is it to replace the ink sac,...

Looking for info on a FP that was gifted to me. I recently re-sacced it, and it's a pretty good writer. It has a 14k gold #2 Star flex nib. I know Weidlich went out of business in 1915, and they were produced into the '30s. This one was possibly from the '20s, but I'm only guessing. Any info on its...

Hi, I bought a circa 1918 Waterman's Ideal 52 lever fill fountain pen two weeks ago. I had it filled with Waterman's ink at the store, took it home, and gleefully wrote with it until it ran dry today. I started to flush it out with distilled water and after about 20, or so, fills and flushes it...

The first hour was spent trying to get the lever and slotted piece that goes into the bottom of the barrel to stay together while trying to insert both at once. Then I found a work around online which ended up working on the second try and in less than 5 minutes.

I bought a mixed lot of fountain pens at a local auction recently and among them was a BHR lever-fill pen engraved FW Francis, BC. The body of the pen has no wear or scratches to the rubber and is still jet black. It looks as though it has never been used. The pattern on the body is a ripple ef...

Complete newbie here. Hoping someone can help me ID this pen I received in a lot on eBay. I am thinking perhaps a Parker, but the cap end and clip are missing. I want to replace these, it's a beautiful pen, but first I need to know what it is! Black with silver/copper Pearlized wave effect. Single...

Hi, I recently bought an Esterbrook J that I'm expecting next week or so. I'm aware that the Esterbrooks don't use a converter and fill their sacs using something called a lever filler. I was wondering if someone could elaborate on how that works. Like, how would I use that mechanism to fill from...

I bought my first vintage rescue today, and am trying to identify it so I can purchase parts. In addition to the picture posted, here's what I know about it so far. It has a 14k gold flex nib stamped EAGLE (top line; largest) 14K (midline; midsize) MADE IN USA (nib base & smallest; slightly curved...

I found this pen at an antique store for $8 and couldn't resist. The cap band has since fallen off, but I managed to resack it and it now works properly. Could anyone identify the pen based on the pictures and this description? It's a very small lever filler, the nib reads "SHEAFFER'S 3 MADE IN...
