So recently I came into possession of a vintage kaweco dia in pretty good condition, except for the chew marks on the piston nob. An issue, if I could even call it that, that I am having with the pen is that in other pictures I see online for it (granted an older looking model), the ink window is a blue color and is pretty translucent. However this pen, even after flushing it with pen flush and letting it sit in some water to get any dried ink, the ink window is pretty much black unless I put it right next to a bright light. Although its not really much of a big deal to me, I am wondering if there is any way to get ink window more visible or if this is just a feature of the pen and not a bug. Thanks for any input!

My dear FPN crew, I'm a little frustrated. I found this beautiful Kaweco Dia 803/08 on Shpok (online flea market app essentially). I first cleaned it and flushed, and soon noticed that the cork must've shrunk over the years. I sat it in water for a few days, which couldn't revive the cork's functionality. So I tried to look up how to change the piston, and found out through this video, how to actually screw out the piston unit. Timo also pointed out in the video (at around 3:48) that unscrewing this part would prove to be quite difficult, because it's quite small. I already saw that people might have attempted unscrewing it with pliers as it looks a little scratched. I've been trying to screw off the part with nylon pliers - but without success. Can anyone help me? Does anyone have a helpful piece of advice? Also, if anyone could help me out with the year of production, that would be amazing, too. http://66.media.tumblr.com/8984c5c4fcf2de732db5bbc24952ced8/tumblr_od2uo0kBwB1vo6rxoo1_1280.jpg

I've had the Kaweco Dia (not the Dia 2) for a couple of months now, and have been using cartridges only. At first I used the cartridges supplied with the pen and they worked well. Started up fine, seemed to flow well, no major issues. I bought some Diamine Black and J. Herbin Perle Noir cartridges and the pen dries up frequently to the point that I have to put the nib under tap water to get it going. I was traveling for a week or so and came back, the pen wouldn't start. I changed cartridges, got it flowing, and after a couple of days the pen wouldn't start up without the water treatment. I love the pen, size, balance, nib, smoothness, the look, but this nib flow is killing me. Should I just be patient, write with it everyday to keep it flowing, send it back, consider a nib master? It isn't a super expensive pen so the nib work might be excessive, in my opinion, for a pen of this calibre. Hope you can suggest something. I've considered buying the Kaweco converter but I read somewhere that someone had trouble with it. It's only a few bucks so no big deal financially but if this pen is flawed, I'll be disappointed. Thanks for your suggestions.

I´d like to buy the Cult Pens Mini Fountain Pen, and since they use Kaweco (Bock) nibs (AL Sport, Liliput and Dia) I want some advice about them. ¿How the Kaweco F and M nibs are compared to a Lamy Logo F or a Sheaffer Intensity M or a Faber-Castell Basic M nibs? I have a tiny handwriting so I don´t like broad nibs, but I have to take rapid notes so I need a good flow (not an easy task to find the right nib).
