Jinhao Centennial 100 Inscription/ how red is red
Shanghai Knife Dude posted a topic in Fountain Pen Reviews
Just pick up my interest in pen shopping again. 3 years ago, I bought a Centennial 100 on its launch. It was (bleep). The pen felt like feather, the screw of cap is as dry as my math teacher back in primary school. So I totally forget about the pen. I notice recently there is a inscription model (it must be launched for long, maybe Nov, 2021), with Jinhao's writing, kinds of joke to the Parker Duofold. Why not give it a try until the French Parker finally finishes the long process of considering seeking a lawsuit and starts seeking a lawsuit. This time, the pen felt completely different. It gets some weight. The screw is smooth. The orange-red shines charmingly under light. I don't own a Duofold and am not going to. I want something sexier for an USD 500 in 2024(a Conway Stewart Churchill maybe). So I am unable to compare USD 20 Jinhao with the real deal. P.S. I notice there are some discussion over "how red is red", here is the answer: check the picture with Color Checker card in, this Jinhao 100 is what you will get with your naked eye under normal vision. Before you ask, left to right: 1. Jinhao 100 2. Jinhao 9016 3. Jinhao 9019 4. Pelican M805 5. Hero 565 6. Zebra Sarasa Nano- 14 replies

jinhao 100 Which red is red—a collector’s frustration!
Dan Carmell posted a topic in China, Korea and Others (Far East, Asia)
I’ve been trying to collect all of the Jinhao models with the ‘Century’ banner engraved into the barrel. I have the banner in black, orange, and yellow, which (probably) not coincidentally matches original Parker Duofold colors. I’ve seen multiple ads on AliExpress showing a barrel banner engraving on a RED 100. I’ve ordered FIVE and each one has been ORANGE! The last two purchases I asked first, and was told, yes, it is Red not Orange—not so on arrival. (I haven’t argued with the sellers because it’s too difficult, too nuanced a discussion with the language barrier.) There are three reddish solid colors in in the 100 series (and a red marbled model not pertinent here), as shown in the first three photos below. Although different names are given, I think of them as orange, red, and forbidden city red. The ‘red’ one is often called ‘big bean curd’ in translation, in the photo below it’s called orange-red. The deep red called forbidden city is also called Chinese Red. The fourth photo is of the color I want, in the big bean curd red with a banner engraving. Please tell me I’m not color blind, but that it really is RED, not orange, not forbidden city red! The last photo shows all three pens with the other original colors. And if you have any idea how I can get one, please fill me in! And if you’ve seen a banner on any other color, do tell!
