    I was looking at some manuscript samples while studying Secretary Hand (the almost unreadable Elizabethan scribble that is my particular fetish) and this image popped up. The "Flourishing Hand" was the position that Spencerians used for adding those elaborate decorations and images to formal writing, but it's also a very interesting way for left-handed writers to utilize flex. It's easier in this position to achieve a wide stroke. I have a couple of tiny ringtops with dip nibs that work really well this way. Yes, it looks weird, but the results are interesting.
