Hello, I'm in the process of modifying a Kaweco Al-Sport to give it a much more rugged look. Yes, I know they make two versions that are stonewashed, but I'm not pleased with the colors nor the outcome of their stonewashing process. Anyway, would anyone happen to know what the medallion/finial on the Al-Sport is made of? This one: ( photo credits: edjelley.files.wordpress.com) Do you think it's rhodium plated, or maybe chrome? Could also be polished stainless steel I suppose. And if it's plated what's the base? Brass, or maybe steel? Also, on a related note, how is it attached? Is it glued in, pressure fitted, screwed? how, oh how?

I have a couple converter pens that have a removable finial on the pen body. Can anyone explain why the finial can be unscrewed? I cant turn the top of the converter with the finial unscrewed so Im trying to figure out why its removable. Is there a traditional reason why?

I'm really enjoying my new Wing Sung 618, but the finial keeps unscrewing from the top of the cap. It seems like the finial is connected to the plastic inner cap. When the cap is screwed all the way on, the inner cap sort of grips the pen, so when you unscrew the cap, the inner cap and the finial turn a bit. Is anyone else having this problem? Thoughts on how to fix it?
