While browsing on eBay today, I found two "George Bernard Shaw" pens that surprised me, both Rollerball pens. Of course, that is what caught my eye since the information on the Montblanc web site about the George Bernard Shaw Writers Edition, http://www.montblanc.com/en-us/discover/limited-editions/writers-editions/george-bernard-shaw.html, lists fountain pen, ballpoint pen, and pencil but not rollerball pen. Being familiar with the George Bernard Shaw series since it is an edition that I like in addition to the Oscar Wilde Edition (for which I own two pieces), I knew that these listing were for replica (I prefer to call them fake since that is what they are) pens. Neither pen is in a Writers Edition box and, sadly, one listing already has a bid. In fact, this is the first time that I have seen listings for rollerball pens for the George Bernard Shaw Writers Edition on eBay; of course, there may have been others since I have not browsed for the George Bernard Shaw Writers Edition recently. The first pen, for which there is currently one bid, comes with a fake Montblanc single pen sleeve and can be accessed at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Montblanc-Rollerball-Pen-George-Bernard-Shaw-New-with-Serial-Number-/151754552420?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item235546b464, and the second pen can be accessed at http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONT-BLANC-SPECIAL-EDITION-GEORGE-BERNARD-SHAW-ROLLERBALL-PEN-MONTBLANC-/131563053307?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1ea1c4e0fb. While the first does not include information about a serial number, the second includes the Montblanc year of release for the George Bernard Shaw Writers Edition as the serial number in the heading, "MONT BLANC SPECIAL EDITION GEORGE BERNARD SHAW ROLLERBALL PEN MONTBLANC Serial Number 2008 Out Of 18000". Although I reported each listing to eBay, I doubt that the listings will be removed. The seller for the first pen also sells fake Montblanc single pen sleeves; a current listing can be viewed at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Montblanc-Pouch-One-Pen-Sleeve-Black-Leather-Case-/151754490765?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item235545c38d and others can be viewed through the "View Item" hyperlinks on the seller's feedback page. Examining the pictures for the pen sleeve, you can see that the top edges are not finished, the sewing is clunky rather than refined, the back does not list a location (for example Hamburg or Italy), and the star is amiss; the star emblem on the booklet is amiss as well. I own many (actually, far too many) authentic Montblanc pen cases including the Montblanc pen sleeves (after which these fake pen sleeves are patterned) in addition to several other Montblanc pen pouches for the Sienna series, the Flip-Flap (I created a topic for modifying this Montblanc pouch using cardboard inserts), and the oblong series with the magnetic closure. It is too bad that there are so many fakes being sold as there is nothing like the real thing. : ) Well, I thought that I would share these for your enjoyment. ; ) Buyers beware!
