Where To Find O-Rings For A Reasonable Price
HartGummi posted a topic in India & Subcontinent (Asia)
I want to convert my Platinum Preppy to an eyedropper pen. Its threads are too coarse to be sealed by silicone grease alone so an O-ring must be added to make an airtight seal. The problem is I have been unable to find O-rings for a reasonable price. I tried to find them over the internet but either 1) they cost far too much 2) are out of stock 3) are not of the appropriate size. None of my local hardware stores seem to have them, also tried the plumbing store and the motorcycle repair shop. Did anybody have better luck finding O-rings ?- 15 replies

Hello Sheaffer forum. I've been sold a new-in-box legacy heritage fountain pen that has the nasty habit covering my hands with ink every so often. No cracks or anything like that, the pen appears to be in good condition as per the ebay description. What I discovered was that, right at the bottom of the barrel, there is a spring. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but this spring is only supposed to be on the rollerball variant of this model, right? I mean, I did feel some resistance with first screwing the pen back together after inserting the included converter, but just thought that's how it was with this pen as I've never owned this model before. Have I been sold a mismatched pen? Fountain pen section and cap with a rollerball body? What seems to happen is that the spring appears to catch onto the converter piston's turning knob and turns it when the barrel is unscrewed. Due to a lack of an ink window, I do have to unscrew the barrel every so often to check the ink level in the converter. What was happening was I was doing this after writing to see whether or not it needed a topup, putting the pen away, and then getting that nasty surprise the next time I uncapped the pen. I'd rather not have my hands covered in ink anymore. Surely this is not supposed to be happening with this model, right? Can anyone else with a Legacy Heritage please confirm whether or not this is normal or abnormal? Thank you.

Hello everyone. I have a hypothetical question. I have the chance to buy a Pelikan R200 rollerball in a somewhat rare color scheme. Is it at all possible to have that barrel taken and turned into a proper Pelikan M250 fountain pen? I've seen custom bindes placed on M800's but wasn't sure if the barrel could be cut down and fitted to an M250. I suspect it's not possible or, even if it were, too difficult/expensive to contemplate but thought I'd ask to ease my troubled mind and put the matter to rest. Thanks for indulging my mad scientist moment.

Eyedropper Converstion: Any Way To Counter Heat Expansion?
KingRoach posted a topic in Fountain & Dip Pens - First Stop
Hello forum, when converting a fountain pen to an eyedropper fill pen, one of the most common problems is that the heat of your own hand expands the air bubble that forms inside the barrel as you use more and more ink. Has there been found any means to counter this prblem other than refilling/topping-up your ink reservoir when you've only used a little bit? It kind of makes it counter the point and the aesthetic to refill your pen every little while without watching that large amount of ink dwindling and sloshing around. The air bubble is part of the aesthetic if you ask me. I want air bubbles. Large ones too. How do you counter the heat?- 28 replies

Can I Use A New Parker Twist Cartridge Converter With This Desk Pen
RodFleck posted a topic in Parker
https://www.gouletpens.com/pkr-s0050300/p/PKR-S0050300 Hello from the Pacific NW. The folks over at Goulet suggested I join and post my inquiry for help here. My daughter, pictured here with the fountain pen in question (she does princess parties and had just gotten done with one), gave me this great desk pen for Christmas. It's a really classy looking Parker that has local history as well. I believe it is a 45, but not positive of that. My other fountain pens are Shaeffers, Montblanc, and Monteverde. So this is my first parker. My question is whether I could use the Parker Twist Cartridge Converter with this pen? Would love to be able to use it...so any help would be greatly appreciated. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z175/ritterton/20170107_151131_zpsqupr0qzw.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z175/ritterton/20170107_151241_zpsoouec1em.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z175/ritterton/20170107_151302_zpsvzy8gdwm.jpg -
Is It Possible To Make A Seam On My Pen Watertight?
Obedai posted a topic in Fountain & Dip Pens - First Stop
I love turning my cartridge/converter pens into eyedroppers because it is easy and lets me hold so much more ink. However, I have a Platinum Century 3776 pen that I am having trouble converting. I want to convert it because it is in the semi-transparent blue color, which makes it lovely for eyedropper filling, and I just love the way the pen writes. However, these pens have a small golden band near the bottom of the barrel that leaks out ink if I eyedropper fill it. Is there any way that you guys know of to seal this seam so that it does not leak ink? Right now I just wrap it in a single layer of electrical tape, but that is obviously ugly and not ideal. Any help you can give would be appreciated.http://fpquest.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/platinum3776bluechartres_oncap.jpg- 19 replies
