I have a Parker 65 whose cap was extremely tight to put on and remove, and looking inside, I couldn't see the traditional metal clutch prongs, so with the help of a Dycem sheet, I took it apart only to find a rather interesting clutch mechanism: The inner cap has slits towards the opening and there's a spring wound around that "waist," creating the pressure needed to secure the section when the pen is capped. To adjust, I simply took the spring off, wound it around the barrel of another pen and stretched it with a letter opener: I ended up overdoing it a bit, but it's still usable: Sharing in case someone else runs into the same problem. Hi all. I have a question: I think I understand what a clutchless piston filler is. The piston is operated by a threaded helix. You turn it to push the piston up or down, or keep turning the same helix beyond its stop point to disassemble the piston/pen. What is a clutch on a piston filler? I haven't been able to find information. I am asking also because I have a piston filler that I intend to disassemble and it does something that makes me think it might be a clutch type, but I would like to know what that is first. I have a fairly dented Parker 51 cap that I'd like to take the inner cap and innards out for use with an Ariel Kullock fantasy cap. Mine has a metallic clutch ring with oval shapes. I know that there is a special tool for its removal, but it is expensive and not a worthwhile purchase for me. So I came up with an idea, inspired by my watchmaking caseback removal experiences. The plan: supergluing the clutch ring to some kind of a bolt. Then I'd pull the bolt from the cap to remove the clutch ring, and then dissolve them apart with a solvent that will only dissolve the superglue. Does anyone here think this will work? I'm trying to see what might be an obstacle, but if the only thing the special tool does it to grip the ring, I'm thinking the superglue will do the same. Would appreciate any input, thanks.

There is about 1mm of wiggle room when I tug on the cap. What's odd is I don't see anything resembling a fingered or pronged clutch at all. This is a Parker 75 Insignia. Were those different parhaps?

Clutch Pencil Recommendations?

I'm thinking of buying a clutch pencil to do some art/ illustration work. Currently contemplating a Kaweco Sketch Up 5.6, and three Koh-I-Noor models 5228, 5201 for 2mm leads and a 5340 for 5.6 leads. Anyone has any of these? How good are they? Any other recommendations?
