Fellow Collectors, We are delighted our LR7 Moonlight, hand crafted by Paul Rossi, has won the Pen World 2014 Readers' Choice Award for Best Metal Mastery. http://www.penhero.com/Temp/LR7Master08_PT.jpg The Awards will be officially presented by Pen World at the Washington, DC Fountain Pen Supershow in August. In honor of this great award we have invited Paul Rossi to receive the Readers' Choice Award on behalf of Lambrou Pens. The LR7 Moonlight photo in the article is of the final Artist Proof, with the Lambrou Pens previous 370 nib unit, and a plain cap band. Please be sure to get the June, 2014 Pen World Magazine to read the full article. http://www.penhero.com/Temp/LR7Master07_PT.jpg These are the latest photos of this Artist Proof fitted with the new 380 nib unit. The nib and cap band are engraved with the new Lambrou Pens name and logo. I took the photos of both Artist Proofs, including the ones in Pen World and in this article, and have personally handled the pens and the LR7 Moonlight is indeed another tremendous work of art by Paul Rossi. The pictures do not do the pen justice. http://www.penhero.com/Temp/LR7Master05_PT.jpg List price for the LR7 Moonlight is $6,750. The edition is 10 pieces world wide. http://www.penhero.com/Temp/LR7Master06_PT.jpg For further details on the LR7 Moonlight please contact us by email: orders@lambroupens.com or claspeninc@aol.com Thanks! Classic Pens Is Working On Really Exquisite Materials For Its Lb5 King Profit Series
PenHero posted a topic in Market Watch
Fellow Collectors, If you were at the DC Pen Show, you would have had the opportunity to see and test drive the extraordinary Classic Pens LB5 King Profit. The current finishes, Kaen (violent flames) in Flame Red and Tensui (raindrops) in Space Blue, introduced this year are really exceptional and the new colors continue that story. Following the successful launch of the first two LB5 King Profit finishes, Classic Pens continues and strengthens its working partnership with Sailor with four, novel, ground breaking diffusion bonded acrylic finishes, for its LB5 King Profit launches in 2014. The new diffusion bonded acrylics have a pre-determined pattern to harmonize and enhance the form of the Sailor King Profit. For the creation of these novel materials, Classic Pens formed a working partnership with Carville in England and Sintetica in Italy. http://www.penhero.com/News/Pics/LB5NewColors01.jpg Sample renderings of the proposed new Classic Pens LB5 King Profit Shown above are the initial renderings of the pen in the four new proposed diffusion bonded acrylics. The final pens are yet to be revealed. The cap and barrel material is produced in three stages. First, Sintetica, an Italian company established in 1954 that specializes in the production of acrylic casted sheets, creates a special production of quality acrylics with pearl enhancement. Sintetica's acrylics stand out for gorgeous effects, ranging from "the classic pastel and transparent colors to imitations of natural materials such as horn, mother-of-pearl, marble and tortoiseshell," as stated on their website. Sintetica creates both unique and basic materials aimed at accessory, home, jewelry, fashion, and fine pen manufacturers. Carville, a UK based manufacturing company established in 1928 and a leader in the precision machining of acrylic and other engineering grade plastics, then uses their diffusion bonding process to eliminate stresses and to impart long term stability to the acrylic material. Carville's manufacturing facility is located in Dorking, Surrey, UK. This process creates the unique and exclusive Classic Pens diffusion bonded materials, including the bright red Flame Red and deep blue Space Blue rods used in many new pens. http://www.penhero.com/News/Pics/LB5NewColors02.jpg Classic Pens LB5 King Profit new colors. Left to right: Diamond Brown (Kouseki), Forest Green (Midorigi), Marble White and Amethyst Purple (both Tairiku) The resulting diffusion bonded pearl material is being released under the following names: Diamond Brown for Kouseki (metal ore) Forest Green for Midorigi (new green trees) Amethyst Purple for Tairiku (continent) Marble White for Tairiku (continent) Launch of the new finishes is planned as follows: Kuseki and Midorigi: 50 pens each finish - February, 2014 Tairiku: 50 pens each finish, choice of two finishes - August,2014 http://www.penhero.com/News/Pics/LB5NewColors03.jpg Sailor Cross Point nib, as shown on the Classic Pens LB5 King Profit Tensui Retail Price of the new LB5 finishes with a Sailor Japanese Medium or Broad nib will be $1,600. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3751/8843744581_bb2e07b8bb_b.jpg I love the Jupiter pen by Classic Pens and Paul Rossi. I got number 64 to celebrate my 64th birthday in 2007, had the nib customized by John Mottishaw and it is a regular in my monthly rotation. I love the glow of Jupiter set in the centre of the barrel in flame red acrylic surrounded by it’s four moons in white and blue and the distant specs of the constellations of Big Bear, Little Bear and Orion inlaid in gold amidst the deep blue space. And the space is not just blue, it is layers of blues from the diffusion bonded acrylic, just as Jupiter is not just red but it burns with bonded flame reds. It was the first pen released by Classic Pens on their own Legend and entirely handmade by Paul. For my 70th year I am getting another celestial pen, The Planets, also being handmade by Paul Rossi, this time on the new Classic Pens “Mythos”, a bit longer than the Legend and with a new, larger nib. I can’t get a number 70 as there won’t be 70 pens, so I have settled for number 2. And having now seen pictures of the prototypes I can’t wait. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2813/8844364856_37981eccf0_b.jpg This time the pen has the planets of our solar system with their moons, the earth at the centre and the sun on the cap, set in the deep space blue amid distant gold and silver stars. And with a beautiful clip design by Paul especially for this pen. This picture sent to me by Andy to contain my impatience shows the different acrylics being used in the prototypes, the large slices for the planets and the small white, yellow and blue for their moons, and scattered around are the gold and silver rods from which the stars will be made. He has told me that the final prototype should be ready early in June and I understand that Jim Mamoulides will make the announcement sometime after that. Meanwhile I have to decide what nib to go for. Oh, and sell some more pens to pay for it.
