  1. The relatively new Aluminium line of fountain pens in the Faber-Castell Neo Slim product family has been on my “watchlist” — or, more specifically, sitting below my shopping cart in the list of ‘saved for later’ items — in Amazon.com.au for most of a month now. This morning, the prices on the Olive Green ones dropped as one of the Black Friday offers. Sold and shipped by Amazon Germany, with a choice of EF, F, and M nibs, for between AUD $60.01 and $61.35. I leapt.
  2. Browsing on Amazon.com.au just now, in addition to the offer on Faber-Castell Neo Slim Aluminium fountain pens in Olive Green, which being recently new in the market, cannot be reasonably benchmarked against previously seen sale pricing, I see: Teranishi Chemical Industry (‘Guitar’) Taisho Roman Haikara Opera Rose ink, 40ml bottle, for $17.44 — certainly not groundbreaking in terms of low pricing, but I haven't seen it fall to or below that level in the past twelve months or longer Nakabayashi Yu-sari A5 blank notebook (with brick red softcovers) for $15.94 — the ship has sailed on being able to get these for less than $10 a long while ago now, and only the gridded notebooks (with blue softcovers) have been offered at lower prices than $15 in the past twelve months or so LAMY AL-star fountain pens in various colours, sold and shipped by Amazon Germany, around the $30 mark — again, not groundbreaking, and in almost every major sales campaign some LAMY AL-stars are offered around or below $35, but if there's a colour you like on offer, they aren't likely to go much lower, either coming from Germany or out of Amazon Australia's local stock, and doing much better than that will have to come down to clearance sales LAMY Safari Pink Cliff special edition fountain pen, F nib, for $30.40 Prices are in Australian dollars, inclusive of GST and free shipping due either Prime membership (specifically with Amazon.com.au) or reaching the order value threshold of $59 on goods from the Amazon Global Store. (I had a quick look, and it appears that even having $30 on Amazon Germany items and $32 on Amazon Japan items in the same cart qualifies.) I can't see much else of interest or astounding value to me personally at this point. Not only am I not that interested in the plain (or any, really) Sailor Profit King Of Pen models, I'm sure they have been offered for significantly less not so long ago.
  3. The Lamy 2000 in black (‘Makrolon’) with EF nib is currently being offered at AUD $201.84 (sold and shipped by Amazon Germany) on Amazon.com.au as a Black Friday deal. That works out to US$132.40. With the days of EndlessPens selling that pen model for just under US$100 long gone, it isn't a bad price, considering 10% GST and international delivery are included. EndlessPens is listing it at US$322 now, when I just looked; so, even if there was an unseen (by me, as I didn't sign in, and it's been a long time since I've been a ‘loyal’ customer with perks) 50%-off discount that could be applied, Amazon's offer is still cheaper. 9% of the Black Friday Deal has been claimed, when I refreshed the Amazon page just now.
  4. Two Three out of the six first (re-)release colours of the Sailor Professional Gear Slim Mini, in the since-discontinued design with the external thread at the end of the barrel (for securely posting the cap without scuffing the barrel's glossy finish), are on 50%-off offer at Bunbougu.com.au. The discounted price is AUD $172.50 each, and just one would qualify for free delivery (to Australian addresses). That isn't a bad price at all for local stock. I was absolutely chuffed to be able to secure yet another colour of that old design, when I was in Tokyo earlier this month. If I didn't already have the two three colours on this offer from Bunbougu, I wouldn't be posting about it now, but would have already snapped them up; they were obviously my first choice colours, already bought at just under US$100 each, three years ago.
  5. Four colours of TACCIA Ukiyo-e inks are (still) available from Bunbougu.com.au at 50%-off for Black Friday, bringing the price down to AUD $14.75 each. The minimum (discounted) total spend on an order to qualify for free shipping is a fairly low bar. It kinda bums me out a little that I bought a bottle of Asahanada from them at an earlier sale this year for just under $20. Oh well. I've just ordered another four bottles (not Asahanada) last night, but asked to change one of those to Benizakura (which was least interesting to me, on account of its nil water resistance; but it's just the colour I don't already have) this morning, not realising it's the only bottle Bunbougu had in stock. The customer service I received was prompt, courteous, and no-nonsense.

  7. Pilot Kaküno with F nib, pink cap, and off-white barrel currently on offer at A$11.48 on Amazon.com.au, sold and shipped by Amazon AU. That's probably as low a price as I've seen it, and one of the cheapest ways to get a genuine, made-in-Japan Pilot steel F nib that can fit onto a number of different Pilot and Chinese (Wing Sung, Pali, PenBBS, etc.) fountain pen models.

  13. Hello, there are certain pens, inks and other stuff I wish to buy, just wondering if I should order now or wait for black friday. Are fountain pen products known for deep discounts on black friday or cyber monday? Specific vendors I am considering include Amazon and cultpens (this only because I want the cultpens mini pen, not available anywhere else). For the rest, Amazon currently seems cheaper than the usual FP sellers, after considering shipping. Thanks for any helpful thoughts on this matter. P.S. I would be ok with waiting for Boxing Day since cultpens is in the UK, if it will get me a sale price.

  16. I just discovered PenChalet.com on the "What are you waiting for in the mail" thread, and decided to check it out. And I saw that they are indeed promising the Pelikan Tradition M205 at half price. Available are black, white, and taupe, stainless nib available in medium, broad, and italic. Obviously, I have never shopped with PenChalet, and also, I don't own this pen. I have the very similar M200 Tradition, and it is easily my favorite pen.

    Black Friday For Fountain Pens

Hello! I'm glad to tell you that there is a Spanish shop that is joining to the Black Friday making a 20% discount in all its products. Just wanted to share it so you can make your Christmas shoppings in advance and cheapper. I think it is a good new for all consumers that shops join this idea. Hope you like it! Here is the link: http://estilograficas.com/
  19. Hello, I'm sorry if this is posted maybe not in the correct section. If so, please move. I noticed Black Friday is coming up. Do online pen merchants normally do sales for this occasion? Are there any shops you remember from last year? And then after Black Friday, traditionally, starts the Christmas shopping. Maybe you have plenty things on your list. As for, I don't really celebrate a lot of holidays these days. Regards
