With International Fountain Pen Day around the corner, I've decided it's high time there is a pen group here in Berlin. I've searched the forum here on FPN with out finding anything. I haven't searched the German forums. If there are German-speaking clubs that meet regularly that I'm unaware of, I'm obviously grateful for any pointers. But being English, I would love to meet others living in, or visiting Berlin that don't speak only German. It would be good if language wasn't limited too much. So, who's interested in getting together on Friday 6th November to share pens, inks, stories, advice and just general relaxed chit-chat? I've not got an exact location in mind just yet, it will depend a little on how many are interested. Location suggestions are as welcome as interest in meeting.

I'm currently in Berlin for a 20 day trip and i think I've stumbled across a strange phenomenon. I was so excited to be in here aside from all the good things but for fountain pens too. To be in Berlin or in Germany, totally was a very exciting idea for me fountain pen wise, the dream of all the flea and antique markets filled with Kawecos, Lamys and particularly Pelikans but there were nearly none of them. I've gone to more than 15 flea and antique markets (which includes the biggest one, Mauer Park) and there was just one counter with over the top prices, nothing more for any ballpoints, fountain pens.. to sum up nothing about pens, Pelikans. Just wondering about if anyone lives in Berlin / Germany knows something about this situation, is there an underground Pelikan mob or something?

Hi all, I'm off to Berlin in a couple of weeks. I wondered whether the Fredrichstrassa fleamarket is viable for decent vintage fountain pens (Pelikan would be nice!) or anyother one in Berlin for that matter. I've looked at some of the old posts, can anyone give a recent update of the situation. Thanks Cluedoh.

My first post in the forum after consulting the posts here (redirected from Google search) a number of times. I have always wanted to write using a nice fountain pen because my deceased father was a secretary for an admiral in the navy, and he has admirable script handwritings. I had no luck in fountain pens because all those I tried were all too scratchy - either kind of clogged or with ink that are too dry. Things have started to change when I am in Germany: even the small book stores or stationeries stores will have some nice notebooks and fountain pens (e.g. those approachable LAMY models) and they actually write, and quite smoothly indeed! I start to have hope in getting my first fountain pen - those that don't use cartilage, to try to write more beautifully and perhaps even to start learning calligraphy! And most importantly learn to enjoy writing in pen and paper and ink more. There is a post about some of the more chic stationery stores in Berlin, probably not the most up-to-date but will still apply: Top 6 Stationery Stores in Berlin Hope to write more in ink! M

Does anybody know of a nibmeister in Berlin? I have a new Parker Sonnet who's tines are very slightly un-aligned (see pic) and I'd like to get the nib right. If I've never done it before it's probably not a good idea to do it myself right?

Check this out! Someone on Facebook shared this video, and my jaw dropped. Imagine all the ink and pens you could hide away in this lovely, lovely secretary cabinet. http://themetapicture.com/this-antique-cabinet/ Hopefully, this is the appropriate place to post such greatness and ingenuity.

Hi, I am new here. Although I have been using fountain pens since my childhood, haven't come across ones with really flexible nibs...so am looking for one. Currently I live in Berlin, Germany. Can anyone recommend a pen, with a really flexible nib, preferably with a piston filler, and a classic traditional look (say, like Pelikan M200) that I can find somewhere in Berlin, within a price range of 120 EUR? It would be great if you could direct me to the particular shop(s) in Berlin as well. Also, since I don't speak German, is it also called "flex fountain pen" here? (in case there is a problem in communicating with the shopkeeper). Thanks!
