A wonderful gentleman from church came up to me a few weeks ago and handed me a pen and pencil set that he had bought and used in high school back in the 50's. It was a green Arnold Pen set and looked pretty rough. He knew I used fountain pens and wanted me to have them. After some TLC and restoration efforts the pen and pencil are up and running and I am writing with them today. What can anyone tell me about the history and time period that "Arnold Pens" were made and sold. Was the company a part of a bigger company? Before and after photos below:

Hello, Everybody! Today in a fit of "I need to buy some old fountain pens" I purchased 4 (possible) junkers. One of them was this pen, an Arnold lever filler. The pen is in pretty good condition (from a newbie who knows little about pens), and comes with a little corrosion on the clip. The nib reads "Smoothline" over "Broad" over "U.S.A." so I'm wondering of it's NOT original to the pen. The ink sac is black, and looks like it has no cracks. There were a few ink stains on the nib that I cleaned off, and a some black ink in the sac. I don't know if the nib or the sac are original, and I haven't inked it yet. I bought it because I really liked the celluloid color (green and stripey!). So.....did I spend $8.00 wisely? Or do you think I wasted my cash. I won't ask my wife, because I'm sure that I know what her opinion would be . I'll try inking it tonight and see what happens,
