John Hubbard gave let me know how it went at a recent gathering of the Alabama Fountain Pen Club in Birmingham, Alabama. I hope to make the next one. He told me: "We had a nice group, about ten, including four that haven't been before. Dave Glass brought a large display of his vintage Conklin collection and the rest of us each brought something for show and tell. We ended the day by rebuilding a Parker 51 Vacumatic as a hands-on demonstration. "The Atlanta Pen Show will be held April 15-17 at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria and several of us from Alabama will be there, some for the whole show, others just for Saturday. We plan to have lunch together there in the show hotel and are working on having an expert join us to demonstrate how to do minor nib adjustments. "As it turned out, one of our new participants, Brian Muenger, has considerable experience with Facebook pages and we jointly decided that rather than go thru the rigmarole of dealing with Facebook to get our previous admin declared dead and new ones appointed, it will be much easier to create a new group - with multiple admins - and invite all current members to join it. That will let us invite new people as well, which we haven't been able to do. "Your idea of a thread on FPN is a good one as well. I'll see what forum might be best for that." Regards, John Hubbard Leap, and the net will appear ~ Zen saying
