  1. So.. I finally got my shipment from Anderson Pens for restoring my little Wearever and everything went great! I put a new sac on (which is watertight) and put a new j-bar in (40mm) but since they didn’t have talc in stock I ordered it from a separate place, and it is due to arrive soon. Anyway, so as I was moving the barrel with the j-bar, I dropped it, and the j-bar moved a little bit further back (I didn’t know it could, I pushed it back as far as I could) leaving me not able to pull it out with the hemostat. Long story short, I gave it somebody who, despite me telling them explicitly several times not to open the lever when trying to pull it out, did it anyway, and pulled the lever and a little metal ring out of the pen, along with the j-bar. Can I get the lever back in? Is my pen broken? Could I do anything to fix it? And if I can, should I put it a slightly bigger j-bar? Thank you for all of your help. I really like the way this wrote, it was like a medium that was ground quite stub-like. So I really want it to be a functioning pen. Thank you for all of your help. Below is a picture of all the parts, including the lever and the ring.
  2. Good afternoon, I hope everyone is doing well. I am writing to ask for advice, personal experience, and opinions regarding Pilot's VP in Fine and Medium. I am currently in the market for a VP (likely the Blue Carbonesque) and I cannot decide on a Fine or Medium nib. I do not have access to a pen shop to test out nibs so I am asking for your help in deciding. Below is a list of a few of my favorite pens that I currently own and use (maybe you can advise based on what I like/currently use). TWSBI VAC 700- Fine TWSBI Mini- Fine Pilot Metro- Medium Thanks! 3. I am fairly new to the fountain pen world but have gone through my fair share of pens while searching for something that works for me and my life. i am currently looking for a pen that can take some abuse. My work and life destroys almost anything that comes near my pockets. I have snapped several Lamy Safari's in half, crushed more Jinhao than i want to admit, broken 3 clips on my kaweco alsport and 2 on my Lamy's and in an unfortunate welding accident melted a hole through my pants pocket and directly through the middle of my Noodlers freebie eyedropper that i got with a bottle of ink(I topped it off that morning). All of this is within the last year and a half and just to show some of the damage below is what all has survived the last few months in my pockets. So far the only pen that has survived has been my Kaweco alsport but the clips are all too flimsy and bend straight out after a few weeks. not to mention that i had to add a copper plug to keep the cartridge from popping out inside the pen and super-glued the clip in place to keep it from falling off when clipped onto my pocket. Does anyone have any recommendations for a metal pen that screws closed with a tough clip. Something a little longer than the alsport would be nice but not necessary. Also does anyone else have any horror stories of destroyed pens. I'd love to hear them if you do.

    Offering Photography Advice

Hello, I recently found this forum and posted for the first time asking about a pen I had that was very special to me, which, unfortunately, I lost mere weeks later, after having it in my pocket every day for over 20 years (still reeling). Anyway, this community has been very kind and insightful to me, and since I am the furthest thing from a pen expert here, I want to offer whatever expertise I can to support the community. I am a professional studio photographer, specializing in high-end watch photography, as well as jewelry, pens, and other pricey objects (I have also worked around the world on commercial and editorial sets with notable personalities, and just about every style of photography you can imagine). So, I intimately know the difficulties most people encounter when photographing their favorite items, whether for sale or personal gratification. I recently rebuilt the studio for my watch retailer client, and am shooing 20-30 watches per day, which all feature difficulties like domed crystals, mother of pearl, facets, angles, curves, different finishes, moving parts etc. - meaning nothing even the most complex pen can throw at me can trip me up. So, anyone here who has questions about photography, or other photography dilemmas, should please feel free to contact me directly or post your queries in this thread, and I'll gladly offer my expertise. I can virtually guarantee that my advice and techniques would improve your photography more than any expensive equipment purchase would (equipment is the trap many amateur photographers fall into). I can help perfect your technique, identify your problems, interpret your light, whatever you need. Next time you are photographing your pens and are struggling to capture the images you want, please just ask, If you'd like see a very small sampling of my work, you can visit my website at: http://www.jamesburger.com. I hope to be of help. Best, James
  5. Hi everybody: Few years ago I bought a Bexley Corona, piston fill. After a couple of loads the pen started to leak where the barrel meets the section, right at the end of the threads So, even the piston works perfectly I stopped using the pen. Well. First: advice: Does anybody know if it is posible to unscrew the barrel and section, glue it and screw them again? Second. WTB: If anybody has a barrel and cap of a Bexley pen that fits the two tone Bexley nib for making an ED, I listen to offers. Or another Bexley piston fill without nib, or another brand of cap and barrel that fits the nib, offers welcome. I am in Mexico, Best wishes, Julio PS: I posted the same topic in classifieds
