Hi, I was just looking through the Fountain Pen Reviews board, and noticed that there do not seem to be any reviews of the 2016 redesign/'refresh' of the Parker Urban yet (as of 2017-04-13). Or, indeed, any reviews of the redesigned version of the 'IM'. As these are both mid-range pens, I am slightly surprised that it seems that nobody on here has either of them. Even if no-one on here has gone out and bought one yet, I would have expected that they are the sort of pens that might often get gifted to people. So I am puzzled (plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose... ) Do any of you out there in FPN-land own either of these pens? If so, what do you think of them? I am particularly interested to read your opinions of their nibs, the appearance of which reminds me somewhat of the nibs on my Parker Frontiers. Are these nibs 'nails'? Do they have any 'spring' to them? The nib on my 2005 Frontier M seems to have just a teensy bit more 'character' than the nibs on my Vector, Jotter, and (old-shape) Urban. I was wondering whether the redesigned pens' nibs share that (illusory?) trait. Or can it really be that nobody on FPN has either of these pens? Have the redesigns of these pens provoked only a universal 'meh' from FPN-ers? If that is the case, I fear that Parker may be in big trouble indeed. Full disclosure: I have just ordered a NOS old-shape Urban with a Fine nib, to complement my existing old-shape Urban with its Medium nib. Why did I not order one in the new shape? Becuase the 'coke-bottle'/'Gina Lollobrigida' curves of the older one please me greatly, and it is those curves that been redesigned out of the new one Also, I know that its Fine nib/section will be interchangeable with the Medium of my existing pen.

Hi, Just wanted to share some news that I got hold of. New Visconti FPs being released just before the Christmas season . I know the information here is limited and sometimes maybe incorrect, but please note that I know this from a buyer's/user's perspective - which is always limited! The pens are expected end of the month. First up is the Caput Mundi - this is how I first came to know about it (hence the picture), but it is now named Red Wine. The pen will come in 3 trims - Bronze, Silver and Black. This is another iteration of the Homo Sapiens line and one that it is quite attractive IMHO. There will be: 50 of the Bronze, 28 of the Silver and 28 of the Black limited worldwide The Bronze will be sold by Italian (Rome) retailers (Stefano from Stilograph Corsanni will have about 20 - http://www.stilographcorsani.com/en/ The Silver and Black will be sold as a special edition by Bryant at Chaterley Luxuries - https://chatterleyluxuries.com/ - I know the picture doesn't show the one with the blackout trim, but Bryant is expecting the pens to arrive this week! Next one (no pics of these one) is a "re-release" of the opera Crystal With black trims - to be called demo midnight (just black, I was wrong when I mentioned silver in when I first did this post ).I would estimate until there are more pictures available that it will be very similar to this one Opera Crystal Dark Age, but with palladium nibs - and no mosquito! Limited to 38 pens worldwide Price point for all these pens (at least Bryant's ) will be around the $500 - $600 range - again i'm just a visconti user so until they are up for grabs we wont know the actual value for sure. All pens will be 23Kt palladium in all the usual sizes with the black trim pens having all black 23Kt palladium Hope this is of good use to someone! Jack

Here's a couple of images of the 'Jotter' with some close ups of the new features. The barrel is all metal, and the 'feather' detail on the clip is the new design. The refill is QuinkFlow, but with a modification to the top edge of the blue rotator part. This Jotter is in 'Kensington red' which is part of the new range of colours, shown on the Parker website. This one has the cap stamped with 'France IIIY' and total weight is 15gms.

Hero 100 'emperor' - 2016 Model
capillaryAction posted a topic in China, Korea and Others (Far East, Asia)
I've been reading many helpful reviews here on FPN as I get on my collecting journal, this is the first time I'm posting with a question. Anyone have experience with the Hero 100 "Emperor" 2016 model?, as shown in this ebay posting: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Model-Hero-Emperor-100-Fountain-Pen-12K-Gold-Fine-Nib-With-Box-/331719526737?hash=item4d3c064951:g:nswAAOSwAKxWWcfJ I know that the standard Hero 100's Achilles heel is the plastic hood, which can crack, but it doesn't seem to be an issue with the 2016 model's exposed nib. Also this is a converter pen, which might (?) prolong the longevity. Some other questions for anyone who currently own the 2016 Emperor model: What material is the barrel made of? What about the grip section? Is there any Chinese writing on the pen? pictures just show Hero engraved on a bronze-like settingNib: is it really 12K gold? If so, how do they achieve the 2-tone effect? Is nib replaceable? Some measurements (length, weight) would be nice. A wrting sample is gravy. Thanks! -

The 2016 is one of the smallest POTY editions so far, with only 500 creations for the platinum-plated and 120 for the special edition in gold-plating. The good news is we still have some available and ready for immediate shipment! This years pen of the year is Inspired by Maria Theresa and Francis Stephen's love for fine lacquer art and is artistically expressed through lacquer and flamed maple panels, similar to that of which have adorned the Vieux-Laque Room in Schönbrunn Palace. Both editions are finished with an 18-carat, two-tone gold nib and an end-cap which protects the rotary knob of the plunger filling mechanism. If that has not already peaked your interest each pen comes packaged in an exclusive wooden box with additional space for 6 of your favorite writing instruments. Call 855-565-1818 or email orders@airlineintl.com for more information. http://www.airlineintl.com/files/10/products_main10448.jpg
