I may need to rethink American Blue - I love the color but had found it to be very slow drying to the point of smearing well after it dried... I mix it with Noodlers Luxury Blue for a nice version that improves both their qualities (negates the flatness of luxury blue, dries and doesn't smear)...

But it IS a fantastic color ...

I hadn't intended on trying PR American Blue, but the dealer who sold me my Faber Castell Pearwood Ambition threw in a few American Blue cartridges, so I had to try it out. I like it and it appears very similar to your scan. Thank you for the review!

The test was from a cartridges (a free gift from Artlite in Atlanta when I visited the store a while ago), I don't have a bottle.

Curiously, I find the ink to be fast drying (as you can see in the scan) and I have no problem with smearing. The color is interesting, but a bit too dark for me. Also the poor water resistance is disappointing. I am still searching for my prefect blue...

I've been using it for the past few months:

1. Very wet. While it doesn't feather, it makes a fine nib write like a medium

2. Slow drying

3. Vivid/Consistent color--doesn't fade

4. Beautiful blue
