Has anyone tried the M150?

I am choosing which one to buy between an M150 or M200 with a broad nib. I know that the M200 is identical with the M400's and they both share the same nib sizes.

Has anyone tried the M150? Is it really small?

Ciao,

You can see some pictures and impressions on my 150 here:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=85683

It's real tiny compared to the M200, I would say the major advantage is its portability: if you need to have a small fountain pen at hand in every occasion, keeping the reliability and quality of a Pelikan M-series, you could not go wrong. Otherwise, I think it's not recommended for long writing sessions.

Clearly, the nib is smaller. I remember someone said it is not advised to exchange nib with a M400, although I tested it and found that it fit (but I didn't push, and would not use it).

Here's a better pic comparing the sizes with M400 and M800:

On the small side, yes, but I wouldn't say tiny. It's one of my best writers overall...but then again it is a Pelikan. As noted above, not for long writing sessions, but otherwise an awesome pen.

Well...I ran into the M150 earlier this week on Pen Gallery...ordered it...received it today. The pen is writing fabulous. Be it that it's a small thingy. I like it bigger but for the price and it's quality I just couldn't resist to step up in experience with Pelikan. It's smaller than the 200 I believe but also cheaper.

My first Pelikan in the early seventies was the M150, I now have about five of them (each a different ink) and a wide selection of nibs for them. Depending on your hand size and size preference, I can say I think it is a good starter. But the M2XX are very nice pens also. You can't really go wrong with either of them.

I've posted my Pels so that you can see the size difference.

You can see how much smaller the M150 is compared next to the M200.

It is small, but I tend to like small. If you're considering an M150 for the price, maybe try getting the M200 used from another FPN'er.

Hi Barny:

The M150 is smaller (11.8 cms vs 12.5 cms), and thinner (0.9 cms vs 1.1 cms) than the M200, but a very good option. Gold palted steel nibs run a little narrower than the gold ones, so the steel broad nib is a little broader than a mediun gold. Nice pens,

For a steel nib I would buy a M150. The M200s have the advantage that can be upgraded with a 14k gold nib (I did it in my two 200s),

Hope helps,

Julio

sorry to correct something about m250.

M250 never come out with demo before.

Yours is m200 demo.

Unless you are saying you put a 14k nib into the m200 into it, Then you call it m250 demo.

Just my opinon.

*sigh*

Yes, it has a 14K nib. It came that way to me. Please let's not hijack the thread over this.

Hi,

As others have said the M150 is quite small but they are usually good writers, but not one I use for long periods of time. I have a couple and my wife tends to use one quite a lot the right sort of size for some ladies (but then again she borrowed one of my Duofold Internationals a while back which she also loves).

It is a little small for me, but if you like slim pens it is a very good offering. Think of a smaller M200.

The one on the left is a m150. Others m200/ m400 size. m600 on the right.

For me the m150 is a bit to small for long writing. I think its more a womans pens. So gave mine to my mom and she loves it.

The steel nib is extremly smooth and I can almost say its one of the best I have. For the price its a really good deal.

I've got large hands and the 150 is a little on the small size, but I wouldn't dream of getting rid of mine. A great pen that writes wonderfully and is a favorite.

Robert, the M420 is stunning. Very nice. We have pretty similar tastes, I'd say!

Cheers,

I have 2 150s, both wonderful writers. I loaned one to my husband the other day because he had to quickly jot something down, and he was effusive over how smoothly it wrote (his favorite pen is an m800, but I've now promised him one of the 150s because he keeps talking about it). For the price, the 150 is one of the better deals I've ever gotten in a pen.

Enjoyed people's photos of their Pels!

Thanks. I like your taste ;)

When I saw this one on stylophiles with the m450 I immediately loved it.

Have to say I don't use it much. The m600 is by far my daily writer.

Barney, I have one old style, sorry I can not post a pic (have no camera nor a cell phone with a camera), but it is 2 mm larger than the new style,

Hope helps,

Julio
