Sweet. The "shrimp" pen I bought a few weeks back is also from the Bookworm manufacturer. The pen writes great!

Informative review. Thanks!

This is the B00 "celluloid flower pattern" model. Nice looking details. :) Your picture shows a dark amber, but the photos supplied by the retailer show an almost honey yellow. I prefer it darker.

I recently bought a Bookworm pen as well, and I was wondering -- do you find that the ink comes out looking somewhat faded? I know the color that my ink looks in my other pens, but when it comes out of the Bookworm, it has a very faded quality to it. Does your pen do this as well?

Hello,

have you flushed your pen before using.?

Sorry to hear that, mine seem ok.

I was using a "purplish blue" ink. -

thanks

Thank you for reviewing this pen. I just bought this one but in Amber color at US$ 8.50 under auction with comeon1788 on ebay. It has not yet arrived in my hand, let see the quality. It is my second Chinese, the first one is Jinhao which is very good quality in term of writing and feature.

I flushed it with water, yes. Perhaps I'll try flushing it again.

Does anybody happen to have the URL for this review? It seems to have been broken by the forum upgrade.

I just bought one of these for around $7-8 shipped from China. I have two other Bookworm models (speaking of which, this pen is clearly marked Bookworm 675 on the section of the one I bought). This is actually the worst out of the box writer. It's a bit dry, but I'll try to correct that soon enough. :)

I have a few Bookworm 663 series pens that I bought on e-bay for very little money -- I want to say under $10 each. They're fun and inexpensive, and I have generally found that they write well. I do find that while I generally post my pens, the cap on this one is a bit heavy and throws off my balance if I post it. I also find that the nib is a little thin and I therefore, for some odd reason, tend to grab it more tightly than other pens. Consequently, I can't write with it for long periods of time.

Does anyone know much about Bookworm as a manufacturer? I've seen this same pen casing from Jinhao and I think at least one other Chinese pen company, and one from Dikawen that is the same pattern but different colors. I thought maybe the different manufacturers might get the same bodies sometimes from the same manufacturers and include their own nibs, but I just got this Bookworm pen and the NIB, with the exception of the name (which looks to be in the same font), is also identical to a Jinhao I received recently. I'm wondering if I got a fake Jinhao, or maybe Jinhao owns/makes the Bookworm line?

I have had mine for quite a while, but I find it a little heavy for me, but it is well built and reliable. I think I paid more than everyone else at about $15, but it is still good value.

I wouldn't worry at all. A lot of brands in China seem to be put together from the same parts box. Working out who owns which brands would be a difficult exercise and would perhaps be best undertaken by one of our members in China.

Whoa! What a nice looking pen! Looks much more expensive than it actually is! Nice.

I bought a similar pen, the Bookworm 702 a month or so ago and it's nib was behaving oddly, so I yanked it out. The entire assembly is removable, and after resetting the feed and nib it's written wonderfully for over 3 weeks and has been my primary writer.

It's heavy, cost 6 bucks shipped to the US, wets write and on the bold side of medium, and never skips. The 702 is a bit less ornate, with more celluloid than the pen reviewed here, but it's still a beautiful pen. Writes as well as my TWSBI.

Just this minute won one of these on ebay, I had a couple of ebay bucks so including shipping it cost me $5.95! I must say since getting a free Hero pen with my Sheaffer imperial the other month I have become hooked on Chinese fountain pens.

I purchased last week a NOS Hero 330 for $10 which should be here any day now and now this one! I am fortunate to own some nice pens, a vintage duofold, a 149 and a limited edition Montegrappa and one of the things I love about this hobby is that one can enjoy pens from both ends of the spectrum equally!

All the best.

Ian
