Pen Repairmen (repairwomen)

Recommended Posts

Ok I am kinda new to this forum, just a month or so visiting.... is there a list of repair experts somewhere on the forum?

Could the repairmen step forward and let us know who you are. I am sending two of my pens to the Pen Den to be repaired, and I was wondering who else does repairs and what are your areas of expertise?

Johnny,

Sorry I can't help, wrong side of the World but I know Richard Binder offers repair services.

Having said that, some specialise in certain types only and may for instance send out a Snorkel to someone else.

All my pens go to:

Sherrell Tyree - in

Does great work!

I met Sherrel at the LA Pen Show last week. She, and her brother, led a session on Pen Restoration and I was very impressed with their knowledge and skill. Sherrel does the Shaeffers and her brother does the Parkers. Interesting division of labor :D

Sherrel gave me some very good advice on cleaning up my pens and her brother was kind enough to take a look at, and straighten a bent nib for me. No charge for either, and, as an extra bonus, the conversation was great.

I haven't had them repair anything for me but, if you can judge folks based on social impressions, they will be first rate.

Jim Mamoulides has a list of penrepairers on his site penhero.com. There is a ton(ne) of good info there.

One bonus of sending a pen to Sherrell is how she packs it on return.

There are a number of good repairers out there, but they tend to have slow turn arounds, once they're well established.

Best

Michael

Sherrell returns everything beautifully wrapped in paper, tied with a ribbon, with a sample of how the pen writes, list of repairs done, model identification, some history (the pen's not hers) and an estimated value!
