Parker Quink washable black

There are far more washable blue inks outh there than black ones. Here is something to consider if you like black and have a pen that unscrews the cap easily in your shirt pocket causing a nasty ink stain that upsets the spouse. So, I bought myself a bottle of PARKER QUINK WASHABLE BLACK and noticed there was not yet a revies available. Here is mine in a written review. Enjoy !

What a superlative review! I like your handwriting.

 

This makes me almost want to buy a bottle of Washable Black, but I'd used it years ago... and while I liked it at the time, I am too attached now to my Noodler's Old Manhattan Black (which dries more quickly than the Quink, per your review). I like that the uncapped pen started right up after three minutes, though. (Note to self: Start paying attention to start-up times.)

i, too, enjoy this ink... as a matter of fact, i have it all over my hands right now!!

 

i do like the fact that's not too black... it has a vintage look.

All that's lacking is a fade test. I have suspicions that Quink Black doesn't last like it used to. But those tests take time...

 

I didn't quite understand your water test, "Just rinsing water" - does that mean you put the paper under an open tap for a short while?

A fade test. Well, maybe next time. Is there a standard procedure for a fade test? How long and exposed where?

 

Your assumption to the water test is correct. Yes, after drawing the zigzag line, I let the ink dry for a minute. Went to the tap and let the water flow over the paper for about 20 seconds or so. No rubbing.

I have used Quink washable black for a while. I noticed that after a month or so, the ink fades into a brownish color then later a dark yellow. I was very unhappy about it because I wrote quite a number of pages in my journal with it.

 

I bought a bottle of Quink black (not washable) which I believed was more permanent. This time, the ink stayed black on paper even after a couple of months.

 

This finding is worth noting especially if you intend your written notes to be of archival quality.

I have to agree that washable inks are not suited for archival quality. If you want that, there are many much more suited inks on the market. The best property of a washable ink is that you can get rid of it if it it spilled on your fingers or that an ink stain in your shirt pocket can be washed out after a couple of rounds in the machine. I have had several shirts trashed for having pens unscrewing in my shirt and having permanent ink in

 

I am in France right now, but I believe I have this sheet of paper still laying around and if so, it would be interesting to see how it compares to the first picture taken a month ago. If I can find it, I intend to post a new pic by mid august or so.

I am not sure if the Parker Quink purchased at Staples (marked only as Parker Quink Black) is the washable variety. I believe it is what used to be called Quink Permanent Black.

 

Anybody know where to pick up Quink washable black (or possibly another truly washable black ink) in the USA?

Have never used the washable Parker Quink Black.Always used the permanent ink.
