Noodler's Aircorp Blue-Black

Attached below is an image of a writing sample with Noodler's Aircorp Blue-Black, and below that, the review proper. Regarding the image, "lorem ipsum" is a nonsense language used by printers to showcase a font/color (ie: it takes focus away from content and puts it on aesthetics). The water test was performed by submerging and agitating a sample swatch of the given ink in reverse osmosis water for thirty seconds, then letting it drip dry.

A key has been added, written on Clairefontaine paper, with a number of different inks for reference.

Standard Disclaimer: Image provided only to give a general sense of the color. The vibrance and nuance are typically lost when an ink is digitized.

Review

When I write a review, I first focus on color, and award an ink 0 to 100 based upon that alone, separate from other considerations. I then deduct points from the color score for defects (ie: lack of flow, creep, etc), to arrive at an overall score.

Color

Noodler's Aircorp has a certain appeal. Upon quick glance, one could easily mistake it for black. At average reading distances, however, the blue-green nuances are apparent. It doesn't jump off the page like Noodler's Navy, but is nevertheless interesting if you're looking for something that could pass for black, but has a little life to it.

Color Score = 84

Deductions

Noodler's Aircorp B-B is a slow drier.

-5

Overall Score = 79 out of 100

Agreed. One of my favourites of all time!

I think it looks especially handsome coming out of black pens, or elaborate and fancy pens

This ink reminds me of Diamine Twilight. I like it a lot.

Thanks for posting! I particularly like the key with other inks.

I tried this as a sample ink in a TWSBI 580 fine nib, and I thought it worked quite well on a variety of papers. It didn't feather heavily even on cheap copy paper, and on nice paper it kept a tight, fine line with good flow. I work in a place that often requires black ink, and this can definitely pass as "black" while still having character and still being identifiable as an original vs. a photocopy.
