as you can tell from all me other posts - I am new to this. I just got this omas paragon/milord (not sure which) and I am worried that the plastic/resin ( I can't tell the difference) would develop a nasty ring when I post the FP?

Isn't the plastic/resin supposed to be strong?

I almost never post simply because I prefer writing unposted. I have had a couple of pens that were a bit short in my hand, so I posted them to write. Over time they did develop a faint ring, but I was able to buff the ring out. I think one's consideraion should be comfort in the use of a pen, not worry about causing some minor cosmetic marks. Pens are to be enjoyed. - But that is my personal opinion.

I never post unless the pen is very small and must be posted. Most pens will in fact be scratched by posting unless they are built for the cap to be posted (ie endpiece threaded to match cap). Almost every plastic or metal pen will get scuffed by posting and as such I just don't do it.

I usually post pens if it improves their balance.

This isn't to get Bill going (PLEASE don't) but:

When I first got a MB (a 146), it had flow issues. I called service and they said to post it as it improves the balance of their pens and, with improved balance, improved flow might occur since I'd control the nib better. However, as any MB 14x owner knows, posting leads to bad scratches. SO, I no longer post my "precious resin" MBs.

I post all my pens and won't keep one that can't be. I buy pens to write with. Any additional value or collecting fun is secondary. They're mine and I get to play with them!
