OK, and now for the ultimate fantasy Wahl-Eversharp question. If price did not matter, what Wahl Eversharp Pen or series of pens would float your boat or yacht?

Well...... tongue.gif

I am collecting "All-Metal" Wahls, so I really should pick one of the rarer patterns available...but a Gold Seal Personal Point Wahl in Coral (pen#174 here, in this pic from Gopens.com) would be lovely... happycloud9.gif

I am fond of Wahls, though of late, as even in the face of 500+ pens sold per year i find my collection of pens booming past 1700, i might have to do some trimming. Here then some eye candy then for Maja...

My Coral collection including couple GS Wahls and couple perhaps more scarce tulip-clip Wahls...

Also, i have been exploring metal wahls- exploring a way to target a serious yet affordable collection- i do not want to end up owning 100 of 'em. I opted to try to get each pattern in at least one metal in largest size i can track down

Here is a shot of three of the nice ones. A most uncommon #6 size in the Grecian Border, a #5 in Ring Colonial (largest for that, i think) and a #5 in that cluster-of-grape pattern whose name eludes me at moment.

Finally, one of my two solid gold Wahl metal pens. This one is a pattern i believe was done only in solid gold- described in catalog as a mix of engine turning and hand engraving.

The Decobands continue to be my favorites. If I had the cash, I'd have a bunch of OS decobands, rather than just one. My single dream Wahl, though, is the RHR greek key chasing model. These are out of my league, but I would really love to have one.

A couple of weeks ago a brain pattern metal pen went for about a third of what it usually goes for on the bay. I would love to have one of those, and I came close in the bidding, but current finances kept me from making even a decent low bid. Still came in second on it, as I recall. That would have been a sweet acquisition.

David,

Thank you so much for those lovely photos---the red of the coral just jumps off my computer monitor smile.gif.... The Metal Wahls are lovely, too----congrats on acquiring the ones with the "big nibs"!

Hi Shari,

Guess i'm the one who won the coral (brain) Wahl on the bay a couple weeks ago. Turned out to be a nice one. had an ossified sack but clearly had been someones beloved (but lightly used) pen.

Sometimes those "fuzzy picture" auctions turn out ok. Hey at least you know the pen went to another FPNer.

I'm glad to hear the pen was won by a fellow traveler! It was poorly described and imaged, so I was hopeful no one else would notice it! The last one I saw on eBay was two or three times your final price, so many congratulations. If you can get some good pictures of it, I'd love to see them.

Meanwhile, a dreamy RHR with a tulip clip and the greek key chasing went for double my final bid the other day. I figured it would, but I just keep trying, hoping one of those will float within my means sometime.

Out of curiosity, what was the gavel price on your pen? I'm considering putting mine up for sale and would like to know what the market will bear at this time.

Sweet pen...Congrats!

I'd be perfectly happy with a Coronet. Red Pyralin inserts of course.

I have the matching pencil, but still need to find a clip that it lacks. sad.gif

Hi Doc,

The end of auction was $322. I think that was a cheap price for this pen.

Hi Framebaer!

Thanks for the info on the final auction price. That was a very good price seeing that a lot of them lately have been reaching the $400-$500 mark!

Now, what to price mine at...decisions, decisions...hmmm.

Syd,

I think if I had my choice I'd go with a Cathay Green OS Doric with and adjustable nib. Mind you with the plastic problems those pens have I may be too nervous to use it! On the other hand maybe I'm thinking out of the box, I'm sure there may be a Wahl out there that would truely knock my socks off if I came across it. I remember when I first joined Ebay a black/red marble gold seal with several cracks went over $2000 US, when the pen was $50 with 4 days left (again, not knowing how Ebay bidding works) I thought I may end up adding my first OS Wahl to my collection. Let's just say boy was I WRONG! lol
