All other things being equal, I prefer to write unposted. This is for a couple reasons: (1) I don't want to scratch the barrell of my pens by posting the cap if I don't have to; and (2) I find that, at least for me, it is easier to write with most pens unposted (including Pelikan M200/400 size pens). If I post, the pen usually becomes too "butt-heavy" for me, and it becomes more difficult to write than it was unposted, in most cases.

I always try to find more worn versions of my favorite vintage pens so I can post the cap while writing without worrying about diminishing the beauty or value of the pen. For me, most pens don't feel right (i.e., balanced) unless posted.

For balance and aesthetics I prefer caps posted.

I agree with that. I also post my pen to make sure it won't roll off my desk when I put it down. A lot of inanimate objects become very clumsy around me.

Hi,

I don't post anything since the the cap posted on any pen, even the smallest ones makes it unusable for me. sad.gif

The only pen I've ever been able to write comfortably with posted is a Parker vector. Other than that, I never post - mostly because the weight added to the back of my hand feels awkward, but also because, and this might sound weird, it just throws me off when I see that much pen in my hand out of the corner of my eye when writing.

Posted! Writing unposted drives me to distraction!

Then again so do people overdriving behind me on the highway, pocket lint, the ozone layer and the local pie shops not carrying custard pies... huh.gif

That depends of the pen

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Depends on the pen, smaller ones posted, larger ones usually not.

I don't tend to post pens like Duofolds as the cap doesn't sit well unless you press down firmly and I always worry about cracking the cap, also avoid posting pens that might scratch fairly easily.

I normally post caps on a majority of my pens but it all depends. On my Maki-e and Urushi pens, I do not post, that kind of goes without saying!!! Larger pens such as DaniTrio Mikado and Genkai pens, eventhough some of them are the raw ebonite, they are just too large to be posted. I also do not post my Waterman Edson or my Delta Dolce Vita OS, they are heavy enough and if posted, it becomes a tad bit heavy and uncomfortable!!

I normally like giant and Oversized pens because they are more comfortable for my hands eventhough they are small. Even with OS and giant pens, I like to post them but as I said, it all depends on the pen its self and what they are made out of.

If I can post a pen, I do.

i dont really have a strong preference either way.

i usually dont post, and hold the cap in my right hand or set it somewhere, but sometimes i dont feel like holding the cap and dont have much of a good place to set it, so it winds up on the back of the pen.

The Only ones I post are my Pelikans M200 and M400 for they're kinda small for my big palm.

the rest? Unposted.... and I used to post... huh.gif

I always thought that the FPs were designed for writing with the cap posted.

In that way the balance of it while writing is best.

I use 95% of my FPs posted.

Some are so big (and heavy) that the balance issue could not be relevant anymore and I write with them unposted.

Keep writing.

Keep doing it and doing it.

Even in the moments when it's so hurtful to think about writing.
