What's the one pen you keep coming back to? You've bought a few or many pens since, some you don't care for, some you used for a while. But there's one pen that you keep coming back to. Which pen is it for you, and why?

For me it's the Lamy 2000 w/ XF nib. Since I got it I've tried a bunch of others but keep coming back to the 2000. I think it's the fact that's it's a piston filler w/ a large reservoir. That and I love the Bauhaus design. ;-)

My homely little Phileas.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

My black Pelikan m215 with an F nib. I like the way my writing looks with this pen more than any other. I have a Lamy 2000 with EF nib which I love to use for the variation it puts into my writing but my writing really needs the Pelikan's consistency most of the time.

Plain black Sheaffer Valiant touchdown, F nib, with Quink or Sheaffer black ink. It has a tiny tiny tiny crack where you screw the piston, the window to see the amount of ink has some red halo, but it doesn't matter which pen I use or try or like, I always find myself back to it pen. My all time favorite.

Easy, this one...

Kaguyahime "Tale of the bamboo cutter" based on one of the most ancient Japanese tale. It is not my most expensive Maki-e pen, but most loved. She has traveled with me to many pen shows and some of you folks might have written with it at a show. It is well broken into, so the flow is nice and jucy. I have to admit, she can be quite distracting. I found myself staring at her back side now and then waiting for her to turn aournd  OK, now I am getting weird

Parker 51. It's used all the time, but every now and then I'll just get a little obsessed and use that pen and no others for a few weeks.

This is obviously not going to be any surprise... but for me it is actually three pens...

a Parker 51 Vac filler with a butter smooth fine nib

a Sheaffer TD with a smooth fine Triumph nib and

a Parker second generation Azure Blue Vacumatic with a fine nib.

I can understand that.... but you realize that might end when you load that Vacumatic with your FPN ink.... ;)

Kevin, I love that pen as well, I remember an earlier post about it. I'm glad she is one of your favorites.

My Pelikan M600 in the green stripes, with nib reground to cursive italic.

Don

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776

That's the best part about marriage--they know we are nuts and they love us anyway. :D

I don't think it'll come as a surprise to anybody here that the one pen I keep coming back to -- actually the one pen I never leave -- is this 1Q1946 double-jewel Parker "51":

If someone mugged me and took that pen away, I'd be very sad. But there's this other "51", y'see, a nice 4Q1948 Plum, that's just as smooth:

So I would survive. :)

expected response:  Pelikan 200

Ditto here. Even though I enjoy using larger pens (e.g., the old-style Paragon -- now I always have to say "old-style", harrumph  , and even an 800 now and then), I keep coming back to the comfy 200, cuz it's, well, comfy. :o And oh so reliable. :D

Edit: Stray comma zapped. Bzzt!
