Sheaffer Emerald Green NOS

The Older Sheaffer colors are very hard to scan in. The colors always seems to be WAY off. You might see the writing go from Dark to Light and back again. It is NOT the scanner, it is the poor flow of the ink. As soon as I was finished with my review, I washed out my pens and put some PR plum and the pens ran like a dream.

NS,

Wow, yes, very pronounced variation in colour here!

Remind me not to get this ink :D .

Kind regards, Wim

Thats how I was able to get a couple of handfulls of NOS discontinued Inks. So far the only one that I really like out of the Lot is Kings Gold.

Well, NOS Sheaffer Skrip Burgundy is quite nice. However, Ottoman Rose is better, so it has replaced it in my "burgundy" pens currently :D .

I have NOS Emerald Green and it's a very consistant wonderful color. I suspect that there is some ink of a different color in the feed of that pen. Sometimes you can rinse and rinse a nib/feed, but some dried ink remains. Then when you use it, it shows up in the next ink. It's late and I'm tired. If I have time tomorrow I'll try to scan a sample.

I agree with Elaine. Actually I think that was one of the best old skrips.

Perhaps water in the feed from cleaning may have caused this variation.

Thats what I thought but I made sure I flushed the nib and feed with ink. So there was no water.

I don't have a vintage bottle of Sheaffer's Emerald Green but I do have some vintage Emerald Green cartridges and they are wonderful. The color flows smoothly and is a very consistant emerald/kelly green color that leans more toward the yellow-green scale than the newer Sheaffer's Green ink which leans toward the blue-green scale. (See the color differences next to each other: yellow-green/blue-green...it's subtle but quite definitely different when seen written on paper). It, along with Sheaffer's Peacock Blue, Washable Purple and Brown, was one of my favorite ink colors. I would still really like to be able to find a vintage bottle of Sheaffer's Emerald Green ink (undiluted in any way) for a low, very reasonable price. I'll try to make a sample to post in here when I manage to get a chance.

(btw....what does "NOS" stand for???)
