Conklin Victory

This is my first pen review. I hope I covered all the bases.

Appearance

I like the look of this pen. It's an attractive shade of green and the curve at the top of the cap adds visual interest. To my mind it looks very ‘WWII’, but I have nothing to compare it to. This pen is on the small side for me, measuring 4 5/8” unposted and 5 3/4” posted, but it still fits nicely in my (smallish) hands – even unposted. It is 7/16” diameter at the widest point, making it slightly thinner than my Lamy Safari (by 1/16”).

Function

Some people have said that the chromed steel section makes the pen hard to grip. I’ve had no such trouble, but I do have very dry hands. To me the pen feels bottom (nib end) heavy, even posted. Overall I find it comfortable to write with.

Nib

The victory comes standard with a medium nib, but I’d call it a very thin medium. So far I’ve used Noodler’s (Apache Sunset) and PR (Plum) in this pen with no flow issues.

Overall this is a cute little pen, and well worth its $20 price tag.

Nice job.

I didn't realize Conklin made pens at this price level. Looks like a solid performer. Cartridge/converter filler I take it?

I had this pen in red, but gave it to a friend's daughter for school.

Although I liked the way the pen looked, the metal section was a deal-breaker for me.

Also, the (very) fine nib was REALLY dry and scratchy, which is anathema to this juicy, broad nib lover.

So, nice pen, just not my taste.

Ah, yes. I knew there was something I forgot to mention. It is indeed a C/C filler.
