I like it. Since when did they do an eel in American Blue??? Regular Eel blue looks like turquoise out of my pens, and I pretty much leave that bottle alone.

Hum, that is weird, I personally use a phileas M nib on standard printer paper and gosh does that ink look great

I's way bluer/electric than on that scan !

After seeing the Eel Turquoise comparison, I think it's pretty obvious that I got a mislabeled bottle of that, rather than the blue stated on the label.

Graceaj, thank you for your compliments. I appreciate your kind words.

Sometimes the scan OR resolution of your computer monitor can provide either a darker or a lighter shade of the ink in question. Perhaps you can supply us with a sample of your blue ink from the American Eel brand for us to compare?

Renzhe, thank you for clarifying that for "offbase."

Yes, the ink in my bottle of so-called American Eel Blue, which I bought from Amazon towards the end of May, is turquoise. The scans in the various reviews show American Eel Blue to be so much better than the crapola in my bottle. I don't use it because I don't like turquoise at all, even apart from ink.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

A quick question for those who are getting a turquoise color from this ink: Did you shake the bottle before you filled your pens? Noodler's inks tend to look very different if you don't mix the content of the bottle well before filling a pen.

From the scan it looks like Am Eel Blue is extremely close to DCSSB. Is that true?

Eel blue is an excellent ink, one of my standbys.

Have you gone beyond the swab test in this thread to a good soaking? I'm curious about it's water resistance.

No, I didn't shake the bottle before filling my pens. I'll give that a try, dip my Phileas nib into it, write a little, and report back.

OK. I've shaken the bottle; dipped the previously flushed and dried Phileas; written a few lines; seen turquoise again; shaken the heck out of that bottle and shaken the heck out of it even more; dipped the Phileas again; written a few more lines; written next to previous Phileas writings in the following blues: so-called American Eel Blue, Waterman Florida Blue, Sailor Jentle Blue, and Aurora Blue; and I can now say with complete confidence I have #@!&?$% turquoise ink in my #@!?$% American Eel Blue bottle.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

If it's as nice as everyone says, and looks this good, I just might buy some! Does anyone know if this ink is actually waterproof? Can't find any water tests beyond the swab done here.

Cheers,

Stevo

IMO, no. DCSS is significantly darker to my eye. Eel Blue is also more neutral in tone and a bit less saturated.

cpsantillan,

I'm glad you like the ink enough to have one ready in hand to dash off another thought. :) As for my handwriting, thank you for the compliments. I'm sure you can replicate my script with a bit of practice and the with the right nib (an Italic nib).
