Some of the above might be the same product, just named differently by the seller. I might have missed some Japanese products; I'm still learning.

Store Notes:

Art Supply Warehouse $5.95 flat rate for standard ground shipping. Offers a printed catalog.

Computer Products for Education Primarily sells to the educational market. However, anyone can buy notebooks.

JetPens Generally sells in multiples only. Free shipping for domestic orders over $25. Sales tax is collected for shipments in California.

New York Central Art Supply Cannot order directly from their website. Offers a printed catalog. Some of the products I listed are not on their website, but they are in their printed catalog.

Take Note Writing Gear Molly, one of the owners, said the above link for her store is the easiest to use.

Of special note because this chain of brick and mortar stores is mentioned frequently:

Kinokuniya multiple stores in CA, NY, OR, WA

Stock and availability vary from store to store and from time to time; some success ordering from them by phone or email.

Additions and corrections to this list are encouraged. This list is simply a list. No recommedations are being made. If anyone wants to share good or bad experiences about the sites or stores above, please do.

I'm still looking for a US online source for Kokuyo Campus Note, Kokuyo Campus Report Pad, and any Masuya.

I hope you enjoy.

I'm taking almost all the Brick and Mortar Stores out of the list. I don't really have enough information to create a reliable and informative reference for them. I'm posting what was in the list above in this post:

Artlite -- Atlanta, GA

Downtown Stationers -- New York City, NY

Shiga's Imports -- Seattle, WA

Bay Area, CA (Writing Uphill claims Apica is common in these parts. So many stores, I subdivided them.)

Elmwood Stationers -- Berkeley

Flax -- San Francisco

Letter Perfect -- Palo Alto

Maido -- multiple stores

University Art -- multiple stores

While not exactly in the US, don't forget http://www.nota-bene.ca/ in Montreal which stocks a whole bunch of paper, including Apica, Maruman, Sept Couleur, as well as Whitelines, Rhodia, Clairefontaine, yada, yada, yada.

Thank you for your post. FWIW, I have used Jetpens many times in the past and have found them exceptional to deal with. Their prices are very competative and free shipping over $25 (seriously, when do we order less than $25). Just thought I would add my 2 yen.

Sometimes, Big Lots gets shipments of Kokuyo notebooks in the A5 size with plastic covers. I picked up 6 of them for $1.50 each. My local college campus bookstore also carries Kokuyo notebooks (solid color series) in various sizes for a little cheaper than retail.

My advice is to check clearance places like Big Lots, TJ Maxx and Tuesday Mornings. Occasionally, you can snatch up Kokuyo stuff for dirt cheap!!

I haven't had to return anything to them yet, but they are quick to respond and very helpful. I think they would happily take them back...

For those in the NYC metro area, I'm sorry to report that the Kinokuniya store in Palisades Center mall (West Nyack, NY) has closed down.

Their return process is good. You let them know that you'd like to return something, they email you a label, repack, print, sent back make sure the return slip is in the package. After they receive it and inspect for damage they return your $ via paypal.

Efficient and easy

Seriously, have you checked Etsy.com yet?

I currently have over 65 Japanese notebooks on hand (and can get more), mostly Kokuyo Campus lined and grid paper. I also have some Nakabayashi Crossline notebooks, which are phenomenal for FP writing.

If you're interested, please check out my ad in the For Sale: Pens and inks... section on FPN. Here is a link to the ad:

Just a heads up that Maido Stationery has opened an online store, with an increasing range of Japanese notebooks, including the Midori Traveler's notebook and the phenomenal Tsubame line. No affiliation; just a satisfied customer.

I am looking for Loose Leaf B5 26-hole Kokuyo paper and binders to put the paper in. Any ideas? I would prefer 6mm line/dot style.

I found the small CD 5 and CD 10 Apica notebooks at the University Bookstore by the University of Washington in Seattle. I was so excited to grab these that I forgot to look around for other sizes. Chances are, they do have larger sizes.

In the Los Angeles area, There are two Kinokuniya bookstores that have a pretty good selection of paper and notebooks, but I buy more paper from a Japanese grocery store called Marukai. There is one in Little Tokyo just under the Kinokuniya, and there is a large one in Azusa. There is a giant one in Gardena too...

Typically, i have found that I love writing on the airmail paper that I get at Marukai, it is phenomenal with fountain pens.

If you are in the LA area, those are my favorite places to look. A word of warning though, Marukai requires a membership...

That would be great if I lived in LA, but I'm in Ann Arbor, MI. The Kinokuniya website seems to only have books, no stationery.

Thanks

Could you please shoot a photo of the airmail paper you're talking about. I'd like to pick some up myself to try. Many thanks!
