More common are the rolled silver caps of a design

only produced in the UK.

The all rolled silver is highly desirable and will no doubt

sell for a good deal more.

51 Rolled Silver on eBay

I never knew they made a Rolled Silver 51. This is pretty cool. Not cheap either.

That is a great looking rolled silver English set and rather uncommon...

BUT IT IS NOT a Flighter... Flighters were only stainless steel no other material.....

Holy Cow ! It sold for over $1100. Zoiks.

Maybe I should start visiting flea markets in England.

Your chance of finding such a set there is incredibly slim. At least in the UK, pen collectors are aware of the model and of its rarity. Elsewhere, an example might well slip through the cracks unrecognized.

For future reference, be aware that there are fakes out there, where a genuine rolled silver cap has been put on a Signet barrel that has been silver-plated.

Goodness; I'd never even considered the possibility until now! I have my grandfather's rolled silver cap FP and pencil but with gold arrow clips and black barrels, and also a Signet, but I much prefer the look of the plastic barrelled 51 to the metal one (there's something about the plastic section not looking in keeping with the metal barrel). Still, at least I know what to do when the bailiffs start knocking on the door... :eureka:

Whatever else these pens may be, they are not Flighters.

:bonk:

A Flighter, by definition, is a Parker pen made of brushed stainless steel. Like this 65 Flighter, the latest addition to my Flighter Flock.
