Well I know that alot of people like to use ink colors that are original, colorful, or just plain cool! :D Now, sure I like those fancy colored inks but I just need to have that blue-black! My blue-black is just any blue, blue-black, or black that people gave me, but its MY special color!

I use Noodler's black for most writing. I use Noodler's Legal Lapis blue for signatures when I can.

I ordered 2 bottles of noodlers black to use with my new pen, a Pelikan M150. I figured that I should have atleast a bottle ( or 2 :bunny1: ) of a good permanent ink. Maybe I should have ordered more then 2 bottles???

Noodler's Black mainly. Or Zhivago/Walnut occasionally.

Edit: Recently started using Waterman Florida Blue.

Sorry to keep replying (repling?) to every post here, but zxc, I have a question.

On Noodlers black, is it true that you have to shake it every time you go to use it?

I use burgundies at work, because no one else does. Unless it's something that needs to be submitted "anonymously," though with my handwriting, that's not possible.

I like blue. Stands out from the black and white paper and easier to see where I wrote something.

Depends on what I'm doing and what pen I'm using. In other words, variety - why limit my choice! :D

You specified school or work ink, so I chose black. In everyday life, I'd choose purple or green of course. I'm not big on blue-blacks. Haven't found one that ages well. I like Noodler's Permanent Black for it's waterproofness (is that a word?).

If it's important to me, I use the permanent inks - Noodler's of whatever color - so it isn't the color of the ink that guides me so much as the features of the ink. (I need it waterproof against spills, not so much the 'bullet proof' stuff against fraud, because I'm a lot more likely to suffer a tea/ coffee/ cola/ water spill than I am a criminal trying to alter my research notes.) ;)

I have Noodler's Black, of course, plus Aquamarine, Legal Lapis, and Iraqi Indigo. The Aircorps Blue-Black seems pretty water resistant, so I use that, too. Luxury Blue is in the mail to me as I type this. :)

I never have and I've never heard of any reason for doing so. But it wouldn't hurt I guess ;)

If you have to shake an ink bottle because there are solid particles at the bottom, you better throw it in the garbage. But if you insist on using it, it would be best IMHO not agitate the solids at all :)

Back to the original question, if I were to use only one ink color for daily work use, it would certainly be a blue black.

Hi,

Use my Pelikan Brilliant Green, Turquoise, Violet, or Brilliant Brown but not colours like pink, red, orange, or yellow. (The teacher uses them).

I'm a teacher and my two inks for grading are Noodlers Antietam and PR Black Cherry. For meeting notes and general writing at work I use PR DC Blue and Pelikan Black.

Regards,

Sean

I am presently using good ol' black -- Parker, for the curious, since I can get it locally, I generally like its properties, and it's good for what it is -- a basic, safe, major brand black ink.

At the moment, the pen on my desk at work is loaded with PR Arabian Rose.

However, if I want something much more "serious" for an official document, I will normally use a dark brown (JH Lie de The; JH Cacao du Bresil).

A lot of my work-related handwriting is for self consumption only and often done at home, so I'm free to run wild at that point with all my favourite colours... :D

Generally Panman Sapphire for long meeting notes and drafting papers, though I also have Pelikan violet/purple for correcting typescripts.

I often have Pelikan black in a broader pen that is my 'knockabout' pen and 'bossy, nosey-parker, official form-filling" pen

The darkenss of the ink and the broadness of the stroke allow me to write clearly all over the form, regardless of where the stupid little boxes are

I get really mad when the instructions say "Full postal address" and you get a tiddly little space to use. Sometimes I've even used an extra-fine mapping dip pen and written my whole address in a space the size of my smallest finger nail :D

Sorry - off track.

So, Sapphire, with some Pelikan violet and black, though I am also using and liking Diamine Prussian Blue.

Chris
