Hi,

 

My desk is shown in the sale thing

 

It is 5x8 ft Wilsonart laminate top in Saffron Tigris with Postformed edges which I had specially made. All anchored onto my old desk. (The original really thick, heavy cardboard top warped and bubbled, then I could not get hold of the manufacturer.) I had to order the top, then anchor it to the desk itself after discarding the old top. I got rid of the drawers too and got a filing cabinet instead.

 

I'll have to borrow a camera again if you want pictures, but what is normally on my desk consists of a nice modern halogen desk lamp, a blue tile pen rest with several pens, a pencil, a pencil sharpener, an eraser, and a stack of books. All the pending pen repairs go into a special holding rack and all papers go into the filing cabinet, filed away from A-Z. For this reason, it was really easy to clear it away for the sale picture.

 

Under that desk, I keep my ultrasonic cleaner, a microscope, a pair of Dremel multitools, all of my pen repair tools, and some spare cables and what not, rolled, stashed or folded into a chest of drawers that sits on the floor under my desk.

 

When I want my computer, I get my Apple Powerbook from the computer bag that sits beside my pen rack. There is a pair of waste receptacles next to the desk, one for unrecycable trash, and the other for paper and cardboard. Beside that, there is this tall rotating pen rack with two divided sections. I keep my pens in half of the top section the other half has pending pens and the bottom typically holds stock. In the base of this large rotating pen rack, there is a compartment with a heavy duty ball-bearing slide out tray. This holds my ink, leads, silicone grease, rosin sealant, shellac, talc and what not. Beside the rack is my computer bag and beside that is the bunk bed. I would never be able to get my pens were it not for the bunkbed beside the pen rack.

This desk gets to stay clean-ish as it's sole purpose is as my writing desk. The computer is upstairs in more of a shambles, as it is the family puter. I absolutely love this desk. Found it at an antique shop for silly low amounts of money. I had been searching for one forever when I ran into it. It has been fully restored, came with the original skeleton key, and working locks. I couldn't have been luckier to find it

Yeah, they're for work. One of my projects is to read the pin-stamped 2D barcode on the gear end of the cam, so I collect ones I see out on the line with bad marks to use for testing. My computer screen I had up shows the barcode being read by the camera mounted on the little spindly monopod. I need to get rid of some of the cams, though...I think I have about 15 of them hanging around.

Well, Good Morning, and welcome to Monday. Coming into my office this morning, I heard on the radio that today, is National Clean Your Desk Day. That we waste about 2 hours a week looking for things on our messy desks. OK.

 

So after following this thread for some time, and marveling at all these desks, pens, and stuff, I grabbed the camera and took a few pictures of the 'mess' that greeted me this morning. Personally, I don't think it's all that bad. It has 'character', a sign of a busy person. Now tell that one to your secratary.

 

I see I left one of my Snorkels un-capped after being in here yesterday. (Sunday) Humm.
