Is there any hope for this cap?

It's taken me a while to even look at this cap without my stomach turning inside out. I have to admit that I put the poor thing into water to soak. I came back about 1/2 hour later and it was very soft and deformed. I'm guessing it's casein?

Question 1: Is it possible to reshape the cap?

Question 2: How do you know if a pen is casein?

Question 3: I've heard people say, never soak a cap. I've learned the very hard way that sometimes soaking a cap is very very bad. Is it always a bad idea?

Sorry!

It looks irreparable, but there's hope of finding a replacement.

Thanks for posting. It'll help someone certainly.

Best,

J

I can strongly second David's article - it is required reading for any vintage pen care. Every time I have damaged a pen, it was because I wasn't following David's advice. :bonk: :bonk:

So if you have a lot of ink,

You should get a Yink, I think.
