Spors Pens

Anyone know how to replace a sac on a Spors pen? The one source I found on the subject said that many of the sections were glued into the bodies. Kind of makes it hard to get to the sac, doesn't it?

Hi Jeffmiars,

If it is the same as the only one I've had anything to do with, it is a BHR pen with a ceramic/glass nib.

If this pen had a glued barrel to section joint then either the 'cement' is not very good or is heat softened. The section didn't want to move at first but it came away with out any drama after it had been gently heated.

I put the pen in a ziploc, squeezed the air out and put the pen in the bottom half of the bag in warm water for a few minutes (thanks to Wim for the tip) and out came the section.

Take it out with a gentle twist as some of them might be threaded as some of their earlier lever fillers might well have used the same threaded barrels as did their eyedroppers, I don't know for sure but it wouldn't surprise me as from what I have read these pens were made to a price and nothing would have been wasted, if there were a few odd barrels hanging about they might well have cut a slot in them and used them.

The re-saccing itself is the same as most other pens although you might find that you need a thin walled sac as the clearance between nipple and barrel wall was a bit tight on the one that I did. Take care as the section on that pen wasn't terribly well made and felt a bit fragile.

Best of luck, John

Hey! I just bought a Spors off the web and it's a beauty, and needed this advice. Thanks it's just the ticket.
