Ayse's August Offerings

Time to move on a few more pens that were acquired out of curiosity but aren'tlikely to figure in my daily pen wrap......

1. Lamy 27n - A really nice pen which I only bought a few weeks ago from member Along. Piston filler. Oblique medium nib. That's what attracted me as, even thought I'm a leftie, I normally get on really well with left obliques. But this one just doesn't work for me. It's a lovely pen, P51 sized, and reasonably difficult to find. Barrel is marked 'Lamy 27' and piston knob '30 OM'. It's in very good condition indeed with no dings or damage beyond the standard usage microscratches. £35

I'm given to understand from Karl Barndt that the cap and barrel from this pen do not match. One is from an early 27 and the other from a later 27. I don't know how this happened, as I bought the pen in good faith. I can only assume that at some stage barrel and pen have become accidentally swapped before being sent to me. Still a really nice pen!

2. Waterman 92 - I bought this from member Craynerd back in May. His website shows the regrind he performed for me to get this to a 0.9 cursive italic. It's a fantastically smooth nib with lovely variation - the phrase 'glassy smooth' could have been invented for this nib. The nib reads 'W-2A', I believe. But the pen is way too small for me to use regularly. The pen itself has issues - the clip is loose (but secure) and there's a fair bit of brassing. Good clear imprint on both barrel and cap. I'm just looking to recover my outlay on this one. £40

3. Parker Duofold - Bought on a whim from Ebay. Medium nib with loads of tipping. Button filler, which works, but doesn't draw in a great deal of ink. No leaks. Heavy brassing/tarnishing on cap ring, plus a few other bumps and scrapes on the cap in particular. A user-grade pen with a nice nib. £15

4. Parker Slimfold - Another Ebay punt. Blue (not quite as dark as the photo suggests). Very good condition - no damage, marks or scrapes over what you would expect for a pen of this age. Comes with near-perfect box and paperwork from 21.1.70. The nib is interesting (well it is to me) '585 England 5' but very bouncy, if you know what I mean - it almost feels flexy. Generous tipping. Press bar filler. Nice little pen. £20 Edit - looking at the photo - the tines look out - they're not - this is ink on the nib giving this impression!

5. Wearever FP and MP set - Bought a while ago now from member Coolpenz. Absolutely gorgeous grey marbled with red. It was the look of them that attracted me in the first place. Coolpenz re-saced the FP for me. Lovely wet writer, the nib is medium to broad - very wet and with delightful feedback. On close inspection the tines look a bit misaligned and there seems to be more tipping on one than the other - I declare this in the spirit of disclosure! It doesn't seem to affect how well it writes. No leaks but because it is such a wet writer, I wouldn't carry it in my shirt pocket...... As far as I know, the MP works, but I've never actually tried it. Cheap and cheerful set which will keep you entertained. £20

6. Sheaffer - Been sitting in my study for a long time. A pen which someone out there may be able to make something of. Lovely burgundy barrel and section, no major scrapes. Good ding-free cap. The nib needs some TLC in that it appears to be left oblique but it has next to no tipping and the tines are out of whack. Price reflects the condition. £7.50

I accept any flavour of PayPal and absorb the fees - so you've saved yourself 3% or more straight away! I also accept personal cheques or postal orders from UK buyers. (Paypal only overseas). First 'I want it' PM puts it on hold pending payment. Postage - £1.50 in the UK, £4 elsewhere. This is per pen, but I'm happy to combine - just let me know what you want. Prices are for ordinary first class or airmail. I'm not a pen dealer - like many here I'm a pen addict who needs to sell a few now and again as I don't have a bottom-less wallet! My descriptions are as accurate as I can make them, but please PM me for any more information you need. Thanks. Ayse

Man it's hard work selling pens here at the moment! I'm open to offers on these now - ask away, I can only say yes or no! Trades too - but no fine or medium nibs - I like broads (!), italics, obliques and stubs.

The Waterman and Wearever set are now on hold. That just leaves the Slimfold, well worth the £15 price tag, boxed n'all, but I'll now include standard shipping anywhere in that figure.
