Line of vintage but not rare wax seals

Hi,

 

The monogram seal I use with sealing wax looks roughly like this:

I see these cross eBay pretty frequently, so I gather that they were a pretty common item in their day. Is anyone familiar with these, or know any context or history of them?

 

The one I have belonged to my great-aunt, so I'd guess they date somewhere in the early-mid 19xxs.
