The Grand FPN Snail Collection™

Springing off the thread about the traveling journal, who would be interested in participating in FPN's Grand Snail Collection™ ?

The basic scheme would be for anyone who wishes to send a snail to the Grand Snail Collector™. The letters and envelopes would them be scanned and concatenated into a single pdf file--a.k.a. The Grand FPN Snail Collection--that would be made available for download and regularly updated. First volume could be free inspiration, and following ones could be based on themes.

Alejandro seemed ready to assume the title of Grand Collector. Who else is in ?

Denis.

This sounds cool (actually, both ideas sound cool). I'm interested.

UAU! What a position! I won't be able to sleep tonight!

Yes, I'll be happy to receive snails and scan them. Besides making a PDF, I will make a Web page with them.

My address is

Alejandro C. Frery

R. Hélio Pradines, 359 Apto. 801

Ponta Verde

57035-220 Maceió, AL - Brazil

I will start the proyect by sending me a letter. People already think I am nuts, so why not giving a good reason for the gossip :eureka:!

Just to "fix notation", remember that though envelopes will be addressed to this humble Grand Collector, the content of the letter and the aesthetics of the envelope are for everybody in the community.

Great idea Denis.

And thanks to Alejandro for orchestrating the venture.

For privacy concerns, I believe there should be some kind of notation by the contributor stating that the letter and envelope can be displayed publicly, or any exception, such as home address.

Regards,

Jeen

Denis.

What about including letters that someone scans in themselves?

Hi Jeen,

You are right! I imagine the following solution: Regarding the address, the sender drops me an e-mail at acfrery@yahoo.com saying if he/she wants the address scanned; if not, I can edit that part of the envelope. If nothing is said, I will assume that the address is not to be disclosed. Regading content, letters addressed to

Snail Collection c/o Alejandro C. Frery

will be assumed to be published.

Sounds cool. Another way of not releasing a person's address would be to send the envelope within another envelope, so that only the "inner" envelope would be scanned. Unless it is important to see cancellation marks, stamps, etc. Just thinking out loud. I'm no good at envelopes anyways.

All the best,

I like it, other than taking a long time to download, the concept is nice...

All the best,

That's great Alejandro! :D Brought many smiles to me. Expect mine in about 3 months time. Or so...

One easy way to stop the sender's address from

being scanned is simply to write it on the back of

the envelope...

Have fun!

This is a good idea Claes! Alejandro, this looks like it will be a fun project! But I'm with Leslie, you wont see mine for a while
