Majestic Blue

Recommended Posts

I received two of the new Diamine inks on Saturday. Majestic blue and Chocolate brown. Both are much richer and more saturated than other Diamine inks that I have. It would be interesting if Phil from Diamine were to let us know if he is experimenting with more saturated inks. This one is much more like a Private Reserve ink in its levels of saturation. I have been using it for the last couple of days. It does bleed through cheap paper more than some of their other inks - BUT it is a lovely colour. Also noticed that it is wetter than normal and that a broad really feels a broad with this ink. Anyway here is a rushed review to give you a flavour.

No I don't think that its a cobalt blue. The scan makes it look more cobalt than it really is. Its a lovely dark blue. The saturated darker bits reflect the colour better than the light parts. Its odd that they have come out so light. It might have been better to use my camera.

Very nice review, sir.

Fine, workmanlike, penmanship, too. I compliment you.

Must. Buy.

Thanks for the great review.

DITTO!

The nice shading reminds me of "Mediterranean Blue".

The blue tone is so nice!

Thank you!

Thanks for the review. I like the color and the shading...can't wait till my bottle arrives although i'm a bit worried about the saturation. I don't really like the PR kind of saturation.

My order arrived today. Now Majestic is a pretty blue, no green, no purple, no cobalt, more in the Parker Penman Sapphire range, a slightly darker true blue. :)

Well there are a number of sellers of Diamine in the US but they probably won't receive their supplies for a few weeks/months depending on the timing of the next shipment. You can order it from Diamine in the UK who can ship it direct or you can wait and buy it from your supplier in the US.

Cheers

PS the chocolate brown is really nice as well!

Impressive. Looks a bit like Visconti Blue when it darkens after a couple of weeks in the pen. Any word on water and light resistance?

Well, Viseguy, as you know we don't get real sun in the UK - mostly damp mists and so I haven't done a light resistance test ;) !!!! On the water side I have run a couple of lines under the tap and I could still read the writing but I haven't done a soak test. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Wow that looks like another one for the purchase list - I love the similarity to Sapphire.

So, now I have three inks on the "to buy" list - Majestic and Chocolate from Diamine and Sailor's Kwagisomethingorother
