Attached below is a handwritten review of White Whale. The "review" is in coloured ink because White Whale by itself is clearish/white.

WotW was designed to be an ink for mixing. It lightens other colors and allows you to blend a custom hue for security applications.

It also has a distinctive UV spectrum that shows any change in the original script, even with non permanent inks.

I just got my UV flashlight, and tried the Whiteness of the Whale as an invisible ink.

 

My first tests showed that it remained stubbornly invisible even under the UV!

 

You can't use it on "super bright" paper because the brightness enhancers glow in UV just like the ink. It glows white and is visible on other papers. But it is useless on HP Prem Laser 32# in particular because the brighteners match the ink too well.

 

I think this will be the case when you use it as a security additive, too.

wasnt the ink initially marketed as an ink that can write on dark paper?

 

has anyone tried writting on black paper with this ink? I have read about others mixing the WotW ink with other ink and being able to write on black paper. I tried it...and it doesnt work...very disappointed.

 

on the other hand, it has opened up a new world for mixing inks!

I wrote over black markings made with N Heart of Darkness. It wrote over the black and was visible just the same under UV. Also, without UV it dries clear, and does not show up as (ordinary) white on the black or on ivory paper, like I expected.
