Have a look on eBay for a BIN early 144 converter. You may just be lucky.

Just thought I would report back so anyone else looking for this information might find what they need to know.

I was able to find a MB branded #16120 converter (pictured above with the green tip) and can state that, YES, it does fit the push fit 144 pen.

It was a bit more expensive than the newer threaded model, $18, but worth knowing I had the correct part. I am going to be purchasing a newer, #10019 threaded one in the future and see if that also will fit, making it adaptable to both threaded and push fit pens.

OTOH, MB customer service has been abysmal. It has been almost 2 weeks since I initially contacted them by phone and a week since they told me they are waiting to hear back from "our master craftsmen in Germany". All I wanted was for someone to tell me the correct part number of the converter for my pen. Instead, Montblanc Customer Service tried on multiple occasions to convince me that I needed to send my pen in to them to have a converter fitted. I'm sure that would have been a waste of my money.

I hope this helps someone else out in the future.

And to complete the circle...

The newer #10019 converter DOES NOT fit the old push style 144 pen. The hole is too big so it does not seal and it is too long, the body will not screw on all the way.

So the converter to seek out is the older, #16120...
