Ina-Ho - Pilot Iroshizuku

Ina-Ho is intriguing ink, it's hard to describe its color. Let's just say it's interesting, because it really is, take a look at the chromatography. But first the bottle:

I was thinking of describing it as a mustard color until I saw your drawing, and I would say you did a good job with that. It does look like a wheat sort of shade. Interesting.

I have a sample of this. It has really grown on me. I see a greenish undertone on the page that doesn't show as much in your sample (on my screen, at least.) I think it must be a really hard color to capture. That chromatography shot is fascinating. Great shots of the bottle too. Makes me wish I had a tree to showcase all my bottles on rather than just a desk.

Comes across on my monitor as sort of olive drab.

Not too attractive to me, but then, hey, those goofballs with the silly charts tell me I'm colorblind.

So, what do I know?

I kind of like this ink. But, I'm really glad that you are doing paper chromatography. The chemistry teacher in me loves that!

Love this ink... I believe it was the first Iroshizuko I bought... You know me, anything in this family hue is just irresistible. :puddle: :puddle: :puddle: :puddle:

Thanks for the review.. :D

This color is what painters call mud. Just mix 4-5 random colors together an this is what you get. Looking at your chromatography image, I'd say that's what they did. You all seem to love it. Oh well, to each their own.

Thanks for another great review.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I hated this color when I first saw your review. But I keep coming back to it. I think it is too similar to Lie de Thé (which I have and rarely use) to warrant a purchase, but I may get a sample and try it out.

I received my latest order of ink and paper goodies today and was so disappointed to discover that I FORGOT to get a sample of Ina-ho. Oh well, next month...

I agree. It may be one of those colors I would not mind having at least a sample, perhaps not a bottle immediately, but a sample to see how it would appear on Rhodia. I might add, this is nowhere in my taste of color ranges at all, but there is something about it which intrigues me.

There's mud, and then there are subtle, intriguing neutrals. I'm not a big fan of brown ink, leaning more to blues and greens, but somehow this ink fills a need I didn't know I had. I guess it was inevitable as I gravitated from blue-greens into more olive tones. :-)

Thank you for this review. This seems like an excellent ink to put in my brass Kaweco Liliput. :D

Yes, that would be a lovely match! But how do you do that - do you refill a cartridge or have you found a converter that fits the Liliput? I've got a brass and a copper and it would be great to be able to use bottled ink ...

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Have just received a bottle of the Ina-Ho ink...and I really like it.

I'd describe it as gold...and what a delight to see some nice shading out of a broad nibbed TWSBI 580.

This, believe it or not,is the only Iroshizuku I nearly bought.

I say nearly because having mixed 2 parts KWZ Pea Green (a fabulous ink!) and 1 part R&K Helianthus I think I don't need to buy any.

Perfect match.

Phew. :)

(also love the chromatography, it gives us mixers a heads up B) )
