Bought this tonight! (Though I'll have to find the correct Dip-Less pen for it.)

To set on my desk alongside this one I picked up a few weeks ago.

I think they make a great pair, plus I like military stuff.

Really nice find, congrats! I see dipless Esties on the bay fairly often so I'm sure you'll find one for it soon.

In the wild.or auction find?

Auction find, saw an identical one elsewhere so checked Google and found this with what I think was a very reasonable $35 BIN, free shipping, on fleabay.

Earlier, pre-"U.S. Air Force". Very well done!

I did noticed that, it's one of the reasons I jumped on it. That means it should date to between 1926 when Congress created the Air Corps as part of the US Army, and June 1941 when again, Congress, hoping to give it more prestige, made it into its own branch of military service called the US Air Force.

The Air Force became a separate branch in 1947.

Looks like we're both correct. The Air Force did become a seperate branch in 1947, but the US Air Corps ended in June 1941. I accidentally left out that in between those times it was called the USAAF, the United State Armed Air Forces. So the date of the desk set still has to be between 1926 and June 1941.
