Part of that is who the seller is. They are a known top shelf pen Fleabayer.

Their pens often bring top dollar. (They hold the record for an Estie J at $162)

Bruce in Ocala, Fl-hey at least I know the guy who has the #2 Estie record...

And $162.58 "import charges", into the pockets of Pitney Bowes...criminals, scoundrels, swine.

That nib is mouthwatering. A completist would pay that, I'm sure, but I wouldn't.

Beautiful, intriguing, and desirable most definitely. $1,000 worth of beautiful, intriguing, and desirable? I think not - and least not for this little gray duck ...

A Snorkel completist? Isn't that a lifetime preoccupation? A nib completist? Did anyone even know that there was such a thing as a Snorkel music nib?

Apparently it is a Music Flex nib.

Sure. It's cataloged, and they turn up from time to time.

Apparently it is a Music Flex nib.

There's only one flex type for the Snorkel music nib, and it happens to be somewhat flexible.

The winner will be hard pressed to sell it for what they have now got in it. Strong support though from some underbidders. As someone pointed out though it is all about the seller. If I had tried to sell the same pen I'd been lucky to get a couple of hundred.

What do you mean by somewhat flexible? As in semi flexible or as in an understatement as in quite flexible?

To a moderate extent or by a moderate amount; to some extent, up to a point, in some measure.

Is a Mottishaw customized for flex, Nakaya duo tone Music nib a better buy?

While not Sheaffer pens, another seller routinely sells pens such as a 50's MB 344 for close to 700, and a no name brand for close to 500, so this sort of pricing may not be all that uncommon:

I guess that is why it is best to snipe the bid in the last 10 seconds so that others do not upbid you in the last day.

"No name brand"? I suppose if you don't know the name...

I don't see the parallel at all.
