My New Chest For My Pens

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for years for THE chest suitable for my pens, and as beautiful as I imagined it.

So I have just found it. It is a beginning of the 20th century chinese jewlery box.

I will have to make the inside display trays, and cover them with violine velvet.

Here are some photos

Wow, gorgeous chest! It looks like the perfect size, and compact. I know the feeling of looking for the right chest of drawers. I hope it doesn't take me years to find, but if it looks like yours, well worth the wait ;)

Thank you both for your compliments.

Paloma32, it took me years because I had a very precise idea of what I wanted it to look like. And nothing could satisfy me but the one I had in my mind (I am a little obsessional  ).

It's already a gorgeous box; I'm sure your transformation will just enhance it. I look forward to seeing it completed.

Beautiful. So much character and worth the wait.

Thank you all :)

Beautiful. Where did you find it? Antique store?

My cousin found it for me. Alady has died and the heirs were emptying the house. My cousin new I was looking for a chest like that. This chest was going to be be thrown away!!!!!!

It's a lovely chest. I have to know where you found it and how old it is.

It is beginning of the 20the century (probably end of the 19th)

@shangas

I keep looking for the key, but if I do not find it, I know some one who could eventually do one.

@ my63

thank you for the offer.

I think I will buy the trays from gopens and then cover them with the velvet. This way the chest will be untouched. The trays can be removed any time, without degrading the original chest.

That's a very lovely box. I saw one a little bit like it at a sale at the weekend, but the drawers were just a sliver too small (I had a few fountain pens on me so I saw able to try out).

That velvet is just right - do please post the 'after' photos up here so we can see how it looks.

Too many pens, too little time!

It's a beautiful box. I saw a big old wooden thing similar to that at my local flea-market about a fortnight ago. It was a machinist's chest. I'd love to have a chest like that...one day. But they wanted $300 or $400 for it.
